Review for /se jt6218 5 piece watch band

Price was 5. Not pro grade, but worth it for the money if you've got a lot of watches and like to size and change out your own bands, or even change your own watch batteries. This thing pays for itself in no time. Only a watch case chuck is missing. That might've been a nice thing to have included.

Prologue

This kit to adjust metal watch bands is a bargain and is perfectly serviceable. I was able to remove two links from one band, make a micro-adjustment on the clasp, and then remove one link from another band, all in a total of about 8 minutes. Sure, the holes on the plastic block are a little challenging to line up with the end of the link pin you're trying to tap out, but anyone with reasonable manual dexterity and eyesight can do it. Best watch band link pin tool | Se-Tools Review ( Sep 2019 ) Plus SE JT6218 5-Piece Watch Band Link Pin Tool Set (1) dual head hammer: metal & nylon. (1) watch band holder, 2" x 2". Se jt6218 5-piece watch band link pin tool set Review (jt6218)

I bought this because it came with three punch sizes. My watch band has pins smaller than one mm. The others come with a number of punches, but don't say if they're different sizes or not. The descriptions just say they're spare punches. . I didn't get the one that worked like a press. I think using the small hammer and tapping gently gives more control than one of the press type tools. I like this because there's nothing to get out of alignment or jam. The only way to improve this would be to provide punch storage in the base. . It took me just a few minutes to remove two links from my watch band, one from each side of the clasp. The punches are 7/16" long, long enough to push the pins over half way out. The small hammer has a plastic face for driving the pins back in. . I also found a magnifying visor very helpful. . *. . Addition to review. I've now used this to shorten three watch bands. The last was a women's watch that had pins that were very tight. I just kept tapping and the pins finally came out. Don't tap too hard, let the hammer do the work. The watch band holder has slots of different widths to handle different watch bands. . *. . I just measured the pins i received with the se jt6218 watch band link remover. They measured as follows:. 0. 031 inch 0. 79 mm. 0. 035 inch 0. 89 mm. 0. 038 inch 0. 965 mm. . I used a starrett 120a-6 dial caliper like this one,  starrett dial caliper, american made, inch -F. Finch

PROS
  • This was very helpful in adjusting the links of my watches. Not sure if i wasn't using it the most efficient way possible, but i struggled a little getting my watch to sit still while working with it. Being able to stand the watch on it's side using that blue square thing (the watch band holder lol) was still super handy. With this item, removing the links took no time at all and it was very easy. The quality is basically what i expected for the amount i paid (so cheap, but it still works happy me lol). . Er, i don't know what the heck some of these people were doing with their set to break all the pin punches (which are all the same size to my eye, the description claims 0. 1 mm difference between each size up, but am i really going to see that? i can just barely identify between 0. 5mm and 0. 7mm lead refills for mech pencils. ), but i had zero problems in that area. Here's some tips that should help to not break your pin punches: make sure the punch is in the pin hole. Hammer gently (seriously don't treat it like a nail going into drywall or something), make sure the punch is aligned/straight/not at an angle, after pushing the pin out a sufficient amount (you don't need to go all the way, just enough to get a grip on) you can just grab it with your fingers (or very gently with pliers maybe? ) and pull it out the rest of the way. The link will pretty much just fall off after the pin is gone. . Ah, i used it on the fossil q wander gen 2 rose gold-tone stainless steel touchscreen smartwatch ftw2112 links, and anne klein women's ak/1906rgrg swarovski crystal accented rose gold-tone mesh bracelet watch
  • This is a great beginner watch tool kit if you're trying to change out the links in your watches. I have a number of nikon watches that i needed to adjust or repair the links and this watch band link worked just fine. I also used this to adjust the link on my mom's casio and michael kors' watches with no issues whatsoever. I recommend that you watch a few youtube videos or read a few articles before using this repair tool first! you don't want to end up damaging your watches by accident or misuse.
CONS
  • This is pretty cheap and flimsy; i have no idea how it has more than 1 star. I was able to resize a titanium banded seiko kinetic with this kit (5-piece), however while doing it one of the pins bent. The pins are definitely the weak point in this kit; the little hammer is fine and the watch band holder actually works well; however the pins are soooooo weak. I bent two more pins trying to resize a new titanium citizen chronograph, and ultimately threw the kit out and paid $15 to have the watched sized professionally at a local high-end jewelry store. I would not recommend this kit at all.
  • Not as advertised. Not the tools pictured. Tools sent are missing pieces and won't work. This is straight up lying and ridiculous. I would like to contact the seller but i can't find where to do that. So i will say it here. Dear seller- i really hope you are planning on sending the rest of the pictured kit to me. The adjustable back remover tool is really not usable. It doesn't even have the tips on it, or the main body part for that matter. It's supposed to be 3piece but as you can see it's 2piece, if you can call it that. See picture below. It's a pathetic substitute. Also, the tool used to pry the back off watches is shown with a nice big yellow handle, easy to hold onto, and a 3 sided blade-like tip for easy opening. Not the case. In the picture it's the red handled piece, like a mini butter knife. The watch holder in the picture is black with a screw adjustable place to keep the watch in place. As you can see in the picture, that yellow thing is supposed to take its place. It's light weight and doesn't adjust or screw at all to keep anything in place. This is false advertising and not worth the money. The most expensive piece is missing. So seller, i'd like you to own up to this deceit and send me the actual tools pictured.
  • Junk, dont buy, i guess thats what you get for the money, but at least should be the same as the picture posted.

watch band link pin tool SE JT6218 5-Piece Watch Band Link Pin Tool Set (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

This thing is wonderful! i treated myself to an expensive women's watch, complete with mop face, diamonds, and solar power (it was a 2nd, and affordable), plus this little tool set, so i'd be able to size the link band. It was so simple. I set the band in the blue holder, tapped a pin a few times, and it popped right out. Repeated. When putting back together, i got frustrated till i discovered that one side of a link's pinhole has a slightly larger circumference, and the pin just slides right in. Once almost in place, i put the band back in blue holder, aligned a pin punch on pin's head, gave the punch a couple taps until pin was positioned in hole the same as the untouched pins. My watch is perfect now. Very happy!

I saved time and money by resizing my watches at home with this handy tool. It is quite easy and intuitive to use. Just place your watch band where there are pins on the blue plastic tool (as pictured in my photo), place the pin punch that fits (three are included to fit most watches) and gently tap it with the included hammer and pull out with your fingers on the other side when you get enough to grab it. I like to use the blue plastic side for less shock to the watch. And once you have taken away the links you want to get rid of, repeat the same steps but now with the pins inserting. . It is very easy once you actually do it. Now, friends even ask me to resize their watches sometimes."

Invicta Men's 8926OB Pro Diver Stainless Steel Automatic Watch Link Bracelet

Classic styling and high performance add up to an outstanding sport watch for your land or sea adventures. This automatic watch, from invicta's pro diver series, places a large round stainless steel case on a robust triple link steel bracelet. The black dial is designed for quick and easy read-off, even in low light conditions. It offers three-hand function with tritnite-coated luminous hands and hour markers and a magnified date display at the three o'clock mark. The dial is capped with a resilient mineral crystal and framed by a black unidirectional rotating steel bezel with coin edge detailing. This watch is driven by japanese automatic movement, which is visible through the see-through skeleton case back. It is rated water resistant to a full 660 feet (200 meters). Automatic watches automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. When this type of watch is removed from your wrist, the movement winds down in 10 to 72 hours, depending on the size of its winding reserve lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are swiss-made, japanese-made, and more. Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors). Screw down crowns: many invicta watches are equipped with a screw down crown to help prevent water infiltration. This is most common on our diver models. In order to adjust the date and/or time on such a watch, you must first unscrew the crown before you can gently pull it out to its first or second click stop position. To do this, simply rotate the crown counterclockwise until it springs open. When you have finished setting the watch, the crown must then be pushed in and screwed back in tightly. Not doing so will cancel the water resistance of the watch and will void all warranties from the manufacturer. Overall, this process should not require a lot of effort or force. Pro diver collection plunge into any horizon using the steadfast guidance of the invicta pro diver. Stylishly classic, internal workings are forged with variations of either swiss chronograph or 21-jewel automatic movements and willingly navigate in depths up to 300 meters. Built with confident prowess, the fortitude with which these timepieces function makes the pro diver the quintessential in performance.

The F.A.Q. for Se Jt6218 5-piece Watch Band Link Pin Tool Set (Tools)

This works great on invicta watches. I have bought several invicta watches from evine live (formerly shophq). Certain jewelers here have refused to resize invicta watches because they claimed that it ruined (bent) their tools. I was able to resize several watches in just minutes. Just follow the arrows on the inside of the watchband and and using the provided pin punchers, hammer (tap) the pins off using the metal side of the mallet. Make sure you keep track of the top and bottom of the pins. They are not the same size as one end is slightly bigger than the other. You start off by tapping the smaller end. To re-connect the watchband after you have removed some links, you just reverse the procedure (with the slightly smaller end going in first and tapping on the larger end). I use the rubber part of the mallet for this part as you do not want to damage the side of the watchband by striking with the metal part of mallet. I have have saved a lot money and time by purchasing this set.

I had trouble resizing my wife's new watch. Pins broke/bent on two different tools for the purpose. This tool did the trick, and with not that much effort. I think that tapping on the pins was what was needed. The other tools tried to push the pins out and they just did not want to go. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase.

Best se jt6218 5-piece watch band link pin tool set (tools) in review

I purchased a rather cheap watch recently, but i have rather small wrists so it didn t fit properly. I tried everything i could to remove the links, but they just didn t budge. I also felt the watch was too cheap to bring to a jeweler, so after a quick search on online store i found this link removal kit. It gets the job done. . First of all, the provided stand is awesome. You don t even need to remove the entire band from the watch because it holds the whole thing in place. Then, all you have to do is use one of the provided tools to knock the link out of its slot. My watch didn t have any imprinted arrows (like i said, it s a cheap one) so i had to guess. I ended up removing them the wrong way several times, but i didn t care. The tools did the job, and the tiny mallet is a bonus. I wish the handle was about in inch or two shorter, however, because it doesn t need to be that long. I only say this because it s a bit hard to store when you aren t using it, and i have to say this is kind of a one-time use thing for me. . But, if you re somebody who buys watches on a regular basis, then this is a cheap but effective way to remove your links. The quality is good enough to even pass as a professional toolkit; although, i should point out that one of my tools arrived a bit bent. I don t know how it happened; perhaps it slipped through quality assurance. Either way, this set was around eight dollars, so i wasn t surprised or angry that it was bent. A plyers did the trick to straighten it out. . In summary, this toolkit is worth it. It s cheap enough for a one-time use, but it ll also serve you well if you need to remove links often.

I bought a watch on online store and, in order to avoid the hassle of taking it to a jewelry store to have links removed, i threw this item into the shopping bag as well. The price is pocket change and now i have the ability to fiddle with the band length so i am sure i have it just right. While i was at it, i adjusted my wife's watch as well. The kit works well and is of very adequate quality for home use. Just be sure that you tap the pins out from the correct side so the friction-fit retaining mechanism isn't messed up

H. Clara, Utah

I own a stuhrling watch and needed links removed. Bought this little tool kit and it's perfect. I was able to remove two links and put the watch back together in less than 5 minutes. My only complaint is that something doesn't meet ca's prop 65 and there's a known cancer-causing chemical in the mix. Lots of hand washing before and after.

P. Campbell, Hartlepool says

I like to purchase a lot of watches but they're always to big. Rather than taking them to a jeweler to adjust for $20. 00 a pop, i decide to purchase this to adjust my watch band my self and save some money. Works great. After one use it has paid for itself already. Great for the do it yourselfer.

W. Emma, District of Columbia

I purchased this product because i was tired of paying $9 every time i purchased a new watch to get it sized. The shipping was quick and the packaging was protective. The price of this product well justified purchasing it. Using the product was very easy and sizing my watches took very little time. The included instructions were very descriptive and made the use very simple. I am not sure how durable it is because i have only used it twice, but it feels sturdy so far. I do like how the hammer has plastic on the end, so it should not scratch any of the metal on my watches. The hammer would also work well with small projects around the house. I would recommend this product to anyone that frequently buys or adjusts their watches. The reason why i only gave this product four stars is because the plastic on the hammer will likely break off at some point which would leave it unusable for watch adjustment. This product would be better if it had a rubber end, not plastic. But as previously stated, the product works well as it is designed. The product includes many free pins that can hold your bracelet onto the case. They come in multiple sizes and come in handy because they will commonly bend when using a bracelet that does not have solid end links. The pins also work well if you like to change out your metal bracelet for nylon nato style straps.

O. Cindy, Durham says

I got the 5-piece set to remove the links on my watch band and fit it more to size. It took a small amount of trial-and-error with figuring out the pins, but after that it worked perfectly and now my watch fits comfortably on my wrist. I am pleased with the product, and even more pleased that i could do this myself without looking for a watch repair place. However i had to take away one star because the small mallet in the kit is actually a screwable; meaning that the stick portion that you hold screws onto the top mallet portion. For some reason, despite receiving an "unopened" kit, the screw part had worn down so smoothly that the top mallet portion kept falling off the stick. I ended up having to grab the top mallet portion itself to flatten out the pins. It got the job done in the end, but the stick portion of the mallet is completely useless to me.

R. June, Maryland

I had previously purchased a watch repair kit to remove links from my watches. You place the band inside a slot and the removal rod comes in from the side to push out the pin. But the band on my latest watch just barely fit inside the slot (about 21 mm), so i could not guide the removal rod. This tool works differently in that the band is held vertically so the removal rod can easily be aligned with the pin, and then you use the hammer to get the pin out on the other side, enough for pliers to grab the pin and remove it. I could tell the watch pins were in the band rather snug, and the removal rod might bend when trying to remove, but they did their job quite well.

M. Lindsey, Nord-Pas-de-Calais says

A good value, but the pins were bent + crooked, so i had to bend them straight with a needle nose plier! pins are soft + bend easily, so i pulled them out + cut 1/8 inch off length + pushed into holes in holder, now there is less pin extension to bend + it works fine, so considering the cost + the good quality of the hammer, it is a good value buy, if you don't mind futzing a little with it, 4 stars

L. Carol, Newfoundland and Labrador

This is a useful tool if you don't expect high precision jeweler's type tools. I used it to remove links from an inexpensive watch. I was embarrassed to take a cheap watch to a jeweler, and this was a good price. Worked just fine. For the tool-stupid among us, here's a couple things i learned while using it. On the back of my watch are little arrows on the links which indicate which direction the pins should be tapped to come out. Don't be tempted to get out your big hammer in place of the very small "tapper"-you'll bend the link pin pushers. Don't place the blue holder on a resilient or padded surface-that absorbs too much of the tapper's shock and takes too long to remove link pins. Put the blue holder on a very hard surface (wrap watch face in tissue if you are worried about it), and tap tap tap (a lot) with the silver metal side of the mallet until the pin pops out. Then, after you've removed all the links required, just finger press a pin back between two links to rejoin at the right length, then tap a couple times with the blue side to finish. And bob's your uncle!

N. Cageen, Michigan says

For a couple of bucks, by yourself this thing now and save yourself the trouble of taking your watch somewhere to have it replaced. If you buy more costume watches than designer, you are out of luck taking it to a department store (most places will only help you if you bought it there) or spending actual money going to a jewelry store (again, if they ll even do it). I was able to remove the last link necessary from my watch to comfortably wear it in about 3 minutes after i opened the box.

E. Nancy, Arizona

The product, for its price, is made quite well and works for removing links from watches. I'd be careful to make sure that the pin fits the link hole in the watch, so your pin doesn't get stuck inside the watch and breaks. I've removed links with this on a fossil chronograph that has watch links with collars, which screw tool link remover couldn't remove since the pin on that wasn't long enough to get past the collar. So for the price, this is an excellent value product, but i'm not sure how it'll hold up to heavy use since i use it only a few times a year/

Y. Anonymous, New York says

This tool is an absolute necessity in my opinion if you own any watches that have metal bracelets. This literally makes the job a 5 minute one and saves anywhere between $10 and $20 a watch to get sized. More importantly, if your wrist size changes due to gaining or losing weight, you don't have to go back in and pay to have it adjusted again! . . This toolset and a youtube video was all i needed to size several watches - each worth between $250 and $1200. I will never pay to have another watch sized again. Not only is it easy, but i don't have to worry about someone damaging while they try and size it (yes, this happened to me one time when i took a brand new watch to the local "watch repair" place to get sized). . My only complaint about this kit is that the pins are not very stout. It comes with three, and i have one left because the other two ended up bending when they encountered some particularly stubborn pins. Other than that, it works exactly as described and well worth the cost.

. Suzanne, Redbridge says

Does the work most of the time. However, i'd be careful using it with expensive watches. The tips are not as good as the more expensive ones and also a fixed spring bar tool is better if you want precision. But of course, this is an inexpensive tool and should not be compared with higher-end products. Changing leather straps are fairly easy, but bracelets are challenging. The notch became skewed after using it for around 12 times. It comes with extra pins so i changed it. If you plan to change/resize straps or bracelets, i'd recommend buying one of the tool boxes. For less than $15, you will get a lot of other tools including this one.

U. Newell, Queensland

My wife s watch with needed a new battery and she also wanted to adjust the band. We took the watch to a local mall retail store (three digits begins with k and ends with y). It was during the christmas rush and the store was pretty busy, but they told her that it would cost $35 to replace the battery and an additional $15 to adjust the band. Now, we thought $50 seems like a bit high so we left the store. Not very happy! . Purchased this tool kit from online store for six dollars. I had to buy five of the batteries (they came in a strip of 5) for six dollars. The kit work perfectly and i was able to replace the battery and adjust the band for a total purchase price of $12. Quick and easy. Saved $38 and will never go to that retail store again.

X. Monique, Doncaster says

Have been using things like paperclips and a small hammer to adjust watch bands. When ordering latest citizen watch i decided it would be worth it to have the proper size punch and watchband holder to do things right. This inexpensive tool set does the job for me. Now frustration free fitting.

I. Cecilia, Illinois

Very useful in removing links and resizing your wrist watch. I am giving 4 stars (i like it) because i think the pins should be a little thinner in diameter; maybe 0. 1 mm thinner. Also, all three pin punches i got are of the same size which i found to be bit weird especially if the description says otherwise. Nevertheless, i was able to resize my watch, but some buyers may not be able to use it properly.

D. Yvette, North Carolina says

This kit/tool helped me change out the spring pins and bands on a few of my watches that needed to be replaced. I debated about whether or not to buy this product for a few months but now that i decided to buy it i'm so happy i did! now i'll have this tool for all future jobs/fixes!

B. Delgado, Richmond upon Thames

My wife got a new watch for a really good deal. It was $100 cheaper than what online store was selling it for. She wanted to get it sized but everyone in town wanted to charge us $10-20 to do so. Found this on online store and had it sized for her within 5 minutes. It's pretty simple to use and maybe your watch has the arrows on the band that indicate which direction to punch. I was surprised that the hammer had a little bit of weight behind it because it made it that much easier.

. Carrie, Victoria says

Good:. . 1) it has tools for:. I) adjusting your metal watch strap. (which i found very useful). Ii) replacing the pin on your metal or leather watch strap. Iii) unscrewing the tiny screws that might be securing your watch battery to its movement. . 2) it comes in a case and that's very useful in keeping all the tiny parts together. . 3) it comes with a whole set of watch strap pins. Which i found very useful. . 4) the little loupe is very good, surprisingly good magnification. . Cons:. . 1) for adjusting your metal bracelet it has a blue plastic tool. This tool has metal pin. This metal pin works great for most brands like citizen etc. But i found them not long enough for tag and omega. . 2) it comes with a rudimentary two prong case wrench and that is pretty useless. Invest in a jaxa type three prong wrench which is also sold on online store if you have many of those types of cases. . 3) the case and liner could have been better. . 4) the little knife thing used to pry open watch cases is pretty wimpy, its already bent from one use.

C. Elida, Brighton and Hove

For the price, you might as well get it. I always need my watches adjusted and i don't like driving all the way to the mall just to have that done. With this, there are three different sizes of pin and so many grooves in the block for all the various band sizes. The parts hold up and feel like they are made with good quality.

T. Guest, South Dakota says

Just used this tool to set two watch bands on casio g-shock watches. Those rubber watch bands with the bumpers on the ends that force them to be fixed at an angle to the watch body are a real pain in the you know what. . This tool made it relatively easy to hold the pin and leverage it into the hole in the watch body. . Couldn't get the job done with small jeweler's screwdrivers, but it was easy using this tools dual tips. The heavy end worked better for one watch, and the smaller tip worked well on the other. . The long, knurled handle gives you some much needed leverage if you need it too. Highly recommend this tool.

V. Patton, Salford

This is a nice tool for watch band replacement. Made changing watch bands on a few watches i have much easier and this also came with 4 replacement pins in case you lose or break one in the process. They are stored in a small round container that also holds a few extra tips for the tool. This tool saved me a lot of time and frustration.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

A. Susan, Sheffield says

This is a very useful but poorly made product. It is the same as the $9. 00 item except it has a case. There is no booklet to explain any of the tools but for the most part, one can figure them out, still, a small piece of paper explaining nomenclature and use would be a bit helpful. The most notable thing is that these are really . Junky tools. No other way to say it. They start to bend with very little pressure applied and a breaking point is not far off. Rough made and little or no precision. Before i broke any, i returned the item to online store. Looking at the rest of the tools offered here, they look to be of the same quality, or the lack there of. I would like to see online store find a fairly priced set with tools of just reasonable (homedepot) quality and a bit of instructions to go with them. They might have worked some and the kit holder is . Ok, so 2 stars instead of one. Can not recommend these.

R. Mary, Bromley

This just bent my burberry watch's needle! i wish i can take that one star even! i can't believe it! the plastic holder isn't in the best shape either.

O. Nees, Stockport says

I was able to do what i needed to do, which is to remove some links from a band for a watch. The main issue with this is it too fragile. After using it on one watch, the pin punches are slightly bent already. I would've preferred they charged me $2 more to make those punches stronger. The hammer works well. The holder works decently too, if not perfectly. You get what you pay for.

P. Imelda, Mississippi

Tool kit has everything needed to adjust majority of watches out there excluding watches that needs specialty tools. Some of these tools are poor quality that went bad after a few usage, but at this price range you get what you pay for. Therefore i only gave it 3 stars. Used this kit on quite a few brands (citizen, seiko, fossil, movado, and even tag heuer) worked without any issues. The spring bar kit are a bit low quality as some would rust over time. The case is very good to store all these tools and has room to add on any additional tools i had. Overall this kit is decently priced and great for minor adjustments and repairs.

G. Beale, Leeds says

The tool set is nice, but definitely for the novice. There are two issues i have, really one issue and one irritation. The issue is that the tool provided for removing the back of a watch, to replace the battery for example, does not have a wide enough adjustment range for a larger watch. Actually, i don't even think the watch is large, but it is a man's watch and therefore on the larger side. It was possible to still use the tool to remove the back of my watch, just a bit trickier and if the back was extremely tight, i don't think i would have been successful. . The irritation is that there is no spot for the hammer in the pouch. It sits loosely and barely fits into the case. It would be nice if the case was slightly larger and had a designated spot for this tool. . One last observation; someone already mentioned that there are no included instructions. While i didn't find it difficult to figure out what the tools were meant for and how to operate them, it is true that there are no instructions included. I am guessing that some buyers would appreciate instructions being thrown in. . Other than that, the kit has basically everything you need for simple watch repair / maintenance. It is a lower quality set of tools, but what do you expect for $14. All i know is, i bought this kit, batteries and spent 5 minutes replacing the battery in my watch. Had i taken it to a local place it would have been more expensive (including the purchase of this kit) and would have taken them at least 30 minutes to have it done. Well worth it to me. However, i am only willing to give 3 stars due to the limitation on the tool used to remove the watch backing.

T. Walsh, Hillingdon

This is an extremely frustrated experience. The pin punch is very soft and bent easily. The head and body of the pin punch doesn't attach firmly and fell into two parts when pulling it out. The parameter of the pin punch is too large that once it gets into the hole, it's very difficult to pull it out. One of the punch head stuck into the hole of the watch and could never be pulled out. When i tried to pull hard, it broke in the middle with a little piece permanently staying in the hole, so my new watch is completely rendered useless now. Plus wasted a whole night of me. So frustrated.

K. Gilmore, Delaware says

Saw other posts that had similar experience but figure it wouldn't happen to me. Well guess what. It did. Did not receive what is in the picture. Didn't even have the pins. Some rust on some parts. Felt like it was a hand me down. I was really excited about getting this and it was such a let down. Its not worth the money. Will be sending back asap.

S. Anonymous, Isle of Wight

When i opened the case, the tweezers were already bent. During the first use, 2 of the punch pin broke and the blue pin pushers housing cracked down the side. So i now have a useless 9 pcs set and a watch that i started but can't finish myself.

N. Monique, Medway says

Decent watch repair set, but didn't work for a watch we got it for (but after having to bring it in, the watch repair shop also had a really hard time, so i can't really fault this set). The pins on the tools are pretty thin/soft so they bent easily on the problem watch.

. Rose, Hackney

It's piece of utter garbage. The hammer head fell off at first use. It's not screw on or friction fitted. It a conical ended rod inserted into a cylindrical hole. No way it will hold. The pins are made of soft metal, and they all bend at first pounding of my other miniature hammer. Complete waste of my time and money.

H. Alice, Greenwich says

I must echo the poor reviews for this product. On first glance the tools seem fine but in use they fail in terms of quality and functionality. The case wrench is not large enough to open larger men's watches and one of the interchangeable tips seized up in the tool making it impossible to change tips. I didn't return the item because it was inexpensive (my fail as i discovered). When i later tried to used the tools on a smaller watch the adjustment mechanism on the case wrench broke rendering the tools useless. I actually had to laugh when the tip broke off on the jeweler's screwdriver when i tried to use it to change the battery in a child's toy. To add insult to injury our curbside recycling truck left it behind, not worthy of being recyclable metal-perhaps not expending any fossil fuel for the return was green enough :-)

X. Sheila, Wisconsin

If you aren't expecting much for the price then i am sure you will be satisfied. Usually, cheap tools break during use. So, on the plus side, i guess it was a bit of a time saver when the product arrived with several of the items "pre-broken". At least online store makes returns simple.

. Angelica, East Riding of Yorkshire says

Horrible! very cheaply made. I wish i would have read the reviews before i purchased. It broke on the first use.

. Benton, Windsor and Maidenhead

I purchased this kit because my wife's watch needed a new battery. It has the slotted screw on back which i could not get off. So thinking i could become a jeweler i purchased this kit. No instructions at all. All the pins are shipped in a small round container without any identification of what size. After picking two pins that looked alike and i thought would work in the hand tool, i still could not get the back off the watch. The tool would slip when i tried to apply pressure to rotate the back of the watch. Other items in the kit i could not identify other that one that had a little straight pin installed in the end. That did work to push the band pins so i could make the band a bit smaller. Could have done that, and have done so, with a pointed small kitchen knife. My advice is unless you know jewelers tools and how to use them, take the watch to a jeweler. That is what i had to do.

J. Helen, Merton says

I purchased this kit as i was tired of paying north of $35-$45 to change a tag heur battery and still not getting a pressure test included with that price, meaning, the work is as good as if you did it yourself unless you go to a certified jeweler and pay the extra money for a pressure test to receive a full water resistant rating. The adjustable screw back tool in this kit is useless, as it is. The included tips fit very loosely in the holder. I had to modify them so they were tight by shimming some material at the contact point. The tool itself is very loose, which makes it easy to adjust to various sizes of watch backs, but also makes it very tentative to use as it feels like it could break and slip at any moment. I ended up removing two of the spacers (at the large end of tool) from in between the wrench, thus, after sizing for your watch back width allows for a tight cinching down of the tool by re-inserting the two nuts & bolts and re-tightening the tool . Lastly, none of the tips included for that same tool were compatible with tag heur. The closest one was too small, but with tremendous downward pressure and a small prayer, i finally got the back off without a scratch. All the rest of the included tools were of similar quality, as i did not use most of them, i won't comment on functionality.

V. Joanna, Indiana

Did not work right out of the box (clam shell). The kit came with three (3) punches. All three punches were identical in size (diameter). Unfortunately, they were too thick to punch out the pin in my watch band (link type). For less than $6. 00 us, i thought you get what you pay for. I used a whet stone and carefully filed one of the punches to a thinner diameter and finally got it to work.

C. Nancy, Stockton-on-Tees says

Product did not come with instructions. I had to youtube how to take links out and when i went to start taking links out the tool bent so therefore i could not proceed to do anymore of my watches. The product is made very cheap. I really lost out because i still have to take my watches to a jeweler and pay to get my links taken out.

B. Kimberly, Poitou-Charentes

The good: i like that the tools are packed in an easy to carry zippered kit with separate elasticized bands to hold each piece. There are 18 pins, a tweezer, spring bar tool, link remover, case opener, 3 screwdrivers and 3 pin punches - everything you need for basic watch repair tasks. The price is surprisingly low considering the versatility of the tools. . The bad: this kit is a classic example of getting what you pay for. The tools are very flimsy and break or bend easily, especially when trying to remove a traditionally torque-tight screw. The tweezers are more suited to eyebrow plucking then watch repair - they simply can't stand up to the demands of the job. The case opener is tricky to use, especially if you're inexperienced, and it's not strong enough to hold a watch in place when removing the back warrants a lot of strength. There are no instructions so you're really on your own if your watch needs repair. . The bottom line: it's nice to have a set of watch band pins and the prying tool did a fair job of removing a press-on watch back but this kit just doesn't stand up to basic tasks needed to open and repair a watch. If you're comfortable taking on a task like watch repair, you should invest the money (probably 2-3 times more costly than this kit) in a more professional kit. It'll handle the task and make your job a lot easier.

This product was packaged very poorly. When it arrived i found it in a ziploc bag that was taped on the open end. Once i opened it i found the plastic container that holds all the small parts broken and the parts roaming around the package. One of the screw drivers was missing it's tip that i later found in the bottom of the ziploc bag along with 2 other small parts. I have no idea if i have all the parts or not because there is no full list of what this came with. The metal parts except the tips of the screw drivers seem sturdy. The tips tend to bend very easily. The plastic parts are very cheaply made and not very good quality. They all have rough edges from the molding process and the link remover's point moves aimlessly and unpredictably around when trying to actually remove a link. As you can see in the picture on the bottom in the middle to the left of the tongs there is a small screw driver. This is meant to go in the slot to the right of the other small tools. This is how you should expect your product to arrive. Nothing in it's place.

I only bought this for the case, however i was very disappointed. Warning - the case dimensions are not correct as listed above. (i gave the tools to a friend that runs a professional yard sale business he needed them for repairs). The case did not fit inside my pants pocket. So i wasted the money because someone did not list the correct size. Very aggravated. The actual outer dimensions with the case being zippered closed: 8-1/8 long x 3-7/8 back bone to edge x 1-3/4 thick. The thumb pull tongue is 3-1/2. Which you could cut off if wished.

Cheaply made tools. I got this because i though it would be a neat kit for simple jobs that would keep me from raiding my real tool chest. I didn't expect much for the price, but i thought it would be good enough for simple watch band removal and batter changes. My first time using it was to remove a metal band on a tissot and change the battery. I bent two punches and the plastic on the pin removal tool, and quickly found out the screwdrivers were already bending at the tips. Luckily it wasn't expensive, but the money would have been better spent on a losing lottery ticket.

Absolute piece of junk. Very, very, very cheap construction - i tried to re-size a watch band and within minutes, at least 3 or 4 of the tools in this kit were broken, either from cheap plastic molding, weak steel construction, or just plain crap. Don't buy this watch repair tool kit. Spend more for a kit that will last more than a few minutes.

Warning, kit as delivered from online store warehouse was nothing like photo, or description. Cheap is one thing, i was expecting cheap, but just not the item isn't acceptable. . What i received was a soft sided case with some rattling around pot metal tools, no accessory bits, and some incomplete brass item.

I am a big fan of watches and have a few nice ones in my collection. I bought this in order to allow me to work on my watches rather than handing them to a random person assigned to the jewelry counter or at at mall kiosk. I used to wince everytime they started working on my babies. It only took a few times before i got wise and started looking for a kit. I found this one and it had pretty good selection and a decent price. Here is what i thought of it:. Pros:. Diverse set of tools- more than i'll ever need! . The carrying case is very handy. . Cons:. No instructions at all (i have no idea what some of the tools are for. ). The tools aren't super high quality but should hold up if you don't torque on them too much.

Understandable expecations should not be high for a product that costs less than four dollars but this think is pretty junky. During the first use the pin in the punch came loose and stuck in the watch. Additionnally, the hammer feels like the head is going to fall off. While it did allow me to remove a link in my watch i would not recommend this product. If i could do ut again j would spend the extra money and get a better quality product.

Tried this tool on my (men's) clasp type watch band. The little hammer that came with the kit wouldn't budge the pins. I then tried a regular claw hammer. Hitting lightly, the little push out device bent and broke. Trying another one, that one bent too, but didn't break. I then stopped using their devices and went to a regular little cork board type push pin with the claw hammer and i was able to do the job. If you can find a piece of wood and drill an 1/8" hole about 1/2" deep to semi-replicate their plastic holder, have a regular push pin and a claw hammer you can get the job done for no expense. Note that the regular cork board type push pin worked on my man's watch band but might to to big for a more dainty band.

Wanted to remove just one link from a watch i bought online. First off, all three pin tools in the package were the same diameter or very very hard to distinguish. None of them fit the size of the link. They were slightly larger than the hole. Tried using the hammer to remove the link, which was fine, but the pin got stuck in the hole and the glue holding it with the base (worst way to attach something as tiny as this) gave away leaving the pin inside the link hole. Needed small pliers and lot of twisting to pry it out. . Very poor craftsmanship. For $5, which i thought was a good deal, this thing made me spend another 20 odd to fix my watch.

First off, i must say i am very disappointed with this seller as i received a different (cheaper) version of this toolkit. I ordered a watch repair tool kit - 13 piece valued at $14. 15 but instead received a 16pc watch repair kit black valued at $10. 31. As others reviewers have mentioned, these tools are not very precise. For example, the tweezer are useless as one leg is 2mm larger than the other, so it's impossible to pick very small pieces with it. Also, the 3 point case opener was replaced by a 2 point case opener that is also very complicated to use. The precision screwdrivers are just not small enough to remove the screws from the back of a michael kors watch. . I managed to change the battery of my 4 watches but this toolkit was not very helpful at all.

This product is full of cheap tools made from soft metal. The cast might come in handy to keep other tools in. Pay a few bucks more for the better kit.

Bought this to adjust the watch band of a tag heuer. I was able to make it work but the product is poorly designed out of very cheap plastic and metal. If you only plan to use it a couple of times like me, then throw it away it's okay. All the metal items to open watch case backs are so cheap they really do not work well if at all.
