Powerstep Pinnacle Plus Orthotic Inserts (5009) 1975

Review for /powerstep pinnacle plus orthotic inserts

Price was 35. These are the best insoles i have ever used. I have a lot of metatarsalgia, and these help. I put them in a pair of otherwise very good shoes that i was going to get rid of because they hurt my feet, and now i am keeping them because they are so comfortable. I also learned from these insoles that i have evidently been mis-using the add-in metatarsal pads that i have bought previously. I have always placed them directly under the metatarsals for more cushioning. As many other reviewers have noted, the metatarsal pads in these insoles are placed between the arch and the metatarsals, in order to spread the metatarsal bones and prevent them from pinching together. I don't think i would have ever figured that out for myself, but it really works.

Preface

I have tried $390 custom insoles, then tried the green superfeet ($50), then tried the powerstep pinnacle plus. I am getting the most pain relief for my plantar fasciitus and metatarsalgia with these powerstep insoles. Very good arch support, fit perfect in my shoes with no trimming. Was at my podiatrist 3 days ago, she looked at these insoles and said several of her patients use these and get a high level of pain relief. The dr also said these usually do not "fix" the underlying problem thats causing the pain, but can help keep you mobile while treating a severe foot problem. I have been recommending these to everyone i know with foot pain. At this price point i will be ording extra sets for all my shoes so i dont have to keep switching them around. Fantastic product at a great price. Powerstep pinnacle plus full length orthotic shoe inserts - built-in metatarsal support Review (5009)

These are exactly what they were described to me; unfortunately i didn't read the description closely enough to realise there would be a lump of support right under the ball of my foot which i don't need or care for. I meant to order the other style, but i can say this brand is excellent and i prefer them over other brands for actually correcting my plantar fasciitis rather than just 'covering it up. ' i put these in my shoes i don't wear as often and they're fine for short walks. But read the descriptions to make sure you are getting the insole you want! -H. Pearce

PROS
  • I've worn orthotics most of my adult life. My navicular bone shifts without them, and i get in trouble. The joint of my second metatarsal is more distal than the first. This causes me to crush that nerve under the joint head with standing and walking, so hello numbness and tingling, and aching at night. After wearing my last pair of flexible custom orthotics for about ten years (way too long, i now realize) i decided to see if my foot pain would reduce with over the counter supports. (i can't wear my rigid ones to work because i'm on my feet all day and it hurts my heels. ) i bought this brand because i didn't see any other flexible insoles with the metatarsal support. I like them very very much, and will be buying another pair for my cowgirl boots asap. For the first time in longer than i remember, my feet don't hurt when i crawl into bed at night. Thank you powerstep. Consider yourselves my friends for life.
  • I have used powerstep pinnacle insoles in the past. These are my first plus model. I have worn them over a week and my metatarsal pain is lessening a little every day. I hope they last as long as the pinnacle insoles i have worn for several years. Actually i took a two year old pair out of these shoes and put them into a pair of sandals with little or no arch support and can now wear the sandals a lot longer. (once i rubber cemented them in)
CONS
  • I can see that it would be very helpful for metatarsalgia pain. They seem to be very well made with a nice arch and a 'bump' to relieve pressure from the bottom of foot. . However, these were way to big to fit in any of my shoes - even my slippers. I ordered my correct size, but they were huge. I did not want to cut them as i didn't think the 'bump' would be in the correct place. I had to return them.
  • Returning. The length and width was ok, but they are so thick that i can't get my foot into the shoe after the insole is in place. Maybe they would be ok in workboots, but not women's day to day shoes.
  • It s clear that these orthotics are designed from the ground for a man s foot, and then they slap a women s size on it as an afterthought. The shape of the arch and placement is incorrect for a woman and the heel cup is way too large to fit a woman s heel or a woman s shoe. The red is the pinnacle orthotic and the right is an abeo gender-specific women s orthotic. As you can see, the metatarsal pad is in completely the wrong place on the pinnacle and the arch shape is not anatomically correct for a woman s foot. The heel cup is also huge on the pinnacle and will not fit in a woman s shoe. My pt wants me in a little stiffer arch than the abeo, but it doesn t help if all the elements of the stuff orthotic are in the wrong place and the wrong size for a woman. Orthotics need to be gender specific.

To compare: i loved "sole" insoles, but their new cork footbed simply don't hold up, so i junked my "new pair" (my old pair is in my snow boots, and the synthetic construction is on point). I needed some new insoles, and figured i'd start with some fresh boots for harvest, so here we are. . Simply put, they're exactly what i needed. Metatarsal pad is vital: old injuries + farming + getting old maintain the foundation! i'm literally on my feet all day, so i'm picky when it comes to things with my feet. . Oddly, the stiffness of the support is just right. It's not like a steel shank, and it's not just foam. . The 9-9. 5 size was too small for some 9. 5 danner work boots (gap at the toe), but the 10-10. 5's are perfect. . I can't do superfeet, so there's another comparison point for you.

Click to see NoticePowerstep Pinnacle Plus Orthotic Inserts (5009)"I recently visited a podiatrist after experiencing significant pain and discomfort in the ball of my foot and was diagnosed with "capsulitis of the second toe". The dr. Gave me a splint with a pad for the ball of the foot, but this cause even more pain and i couldn't use it. He then gave me a pear-shaped pad to stick in the bottom of my shoe, but this was so hard, that i also couldn't tolerate it. My next option was having custom inserts made for my shoes. This would have ended up costing me hundreds of dollars, and i wasn't inclined to spend that money and risk the possibility of the inserts not working for me. I did a little looking around on online store and found these inserts fit perfectly into my athletic sneakers and eliminated my problem whenever i was wearing those particular shoes. These inserts also have a solid arch support so there is no need to trade off treating one issue while ignoring another. My only problem is that the inserts don't fit into my flats or other fashion shoes without impacting the fit. I would love to see an insert that could fit into these other shoes, or perhaps a half-insert that might work."

(0) Question: The description says it has metatarsal pad but photos look flat where support would go. is it just a less flexy foam in that location?

(1) Question: Does it work for anyone's forefoot pain in this online store reviewers or online store? anyone? or which dpm i shall try or which product? thanks a lot!

(2) Question: How much height would you say you get from these? 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, more?

Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles

I have high arches and plantar fasciitis and needed good orthotic inserts so that i could exercise comfortably. I bought these inserts due to others' good reviews, and i have had a good experience with these inserts. I use them in brooks sneakers. This combination has helped me walk and work out with much less discomfort. I would recommend this product.

Powerstep pinnacle maxx features a uniquely designed heel that offers mildly angled platform for maximum support. The pinnacle maxx increases foot comfort and stability in work, athletic or casual shoes with its eva foam cushioning and anti-microbial top layer to reduce heat and friction, as well as with its firmer shell. Wearing/fitting directions: remove the shoe s existing insoles if possible and replace with your powerstep insoles. Trim edges if needed to fit. If necessary, wear a few hours a day until feet are accustomed to better support, and then wear full time. Suggest wearing powerstep insoles in all your shoes, even slippers, to give continuous foot support. Care instructions: spot clean with a mild detergent. Do not immerse in water. Air dry only. Replace your powerstep insoles as needed depending on wear. Warning: not intended for persons with severe foot deformities or circulatory disorders resulting in infections or foot ulcerations. Consult your podiatrist or medical professional before using. Always consult a medical professional when experiencing persistent pain, discomfort or swelling

Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles (5015 01e) FAQ.

I have been using the powerstep products for over 10 years now. They are quality stiff, yet a nice foam topped arch support. My arch on my right foot is basically collapsed. I walk on the bone above the arch and receive cortisone shots in multiple places on a regular basis (at least until they provide a better surgical alternative for fixing collapsed arches). I had to add a foam additional arch support given at the podiatrist's office to the right foot only. These are like all the powerstep insolses-quality, comfortable and will last a year or more dependent on how often you wear the shoes they are in. I definitely can recommend this product along with the 1/2 arch support insoles they make. -Notice from C. Paula, Barking and Dagenham

I almost didn't get these because some one said they squeak. Mine don't. They help with my issue which is perionial tendinitis. It's not a cure but definitely in less pain.

- P. CageenI switched from dr. Scholl's custom fit 320. I don't feel as if the arches of the powerstep are as high or solid as the ones from dr. Scholl's. They work well for everyday use but if you are going the extra mile i'd use something a bit more supportive.

I wear the expensive inserts from walking company but they were sold out so tried these. Fit great. I have overpronation from flat feet. Size 71/2 womens hawaiian feet, great for swimming ie. Flippers. Just hope they last long. Only had them 3 weeks so far

I bought these for a pair of boots that i also purchased from online store. In the reviews for the boots, it advised that the boots didn't have very much support and recommended an inside support shoe pad. I bought these for the boots, sight unseen. The boots, although comfortable with the insole, were very uncomfortable without the added support. With these shoe supports the boot is very comfortable. I would definitely buy again

Powerstep Original Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles (5001 01d) FAQ.

After developing osteo-arthritis pain in my big toes resulting from my yoga practice, i needed stronger arch support as well as decreased pressure on the front part of my feet. These insoles made an instant difference: the dull pain i was feeling is gone. Frankly, i had tried a variety of insoles and other devices with mixed results. These insoles are the best solution i found to date and i bought another pair with probably more to come. -Notice from D. Reed, Rhode Island

The boyfriend had been complaining about back pains for about half a year. I've tried buying him dr. Scholl's insoles for his dress shoes, but those broke within a few weeks. He did some of his own research and purchased these, and his back pain went away! he had previously dreaded wearing dress shoes, but now puts these insoles in whichever shoe he wears. Definitely lives up to its high user ratings!

- U. MableThis is my second pair. The first pair was prescribed to me by my podiatrist before my bunion surgery. I have continued to use them in post surgery phase. For all new users you need to allow your feet to get used to being reshaped on how you walk and run. Ever notice when you buy a pair of running shoes or any shoes you are paying $80-150/pair or more, the insole in the shoes are worth about $0. 50 ? well the mfg wont give you quality insoles in cheaper or more expensive shoes because they know that quality insoles will increase the life to the shoe since you will likely wear them properly and not buy more pairs of shoes. Try these out. Don't stack the insoles as many tend to do, if the old ones are glued in , work them out ot replace them with these. Give them a little time to get your arches get use to them and you will probably never look back. Your calves and heels may cry a little in the beginning since you are shifting the "footprint" of your step which will transfer the changes in your joints and muscle up your ankles and calves and maybe even knees. It is ok, as you have even using those muscles and joints to compensate for poor walking habits anyways and they are just thanking you.

I love these inserts and have been using them for years. I bought the original pair of these from a professional running store to relieve planters fasciitis. Let me say along with stretching and a little rest they fixed the problem and it did not come back. Later i developed planters fasciitis from wearing non-supportive shoes when not running. These were the solution and i have them in all of my shoes now. They fit right into the shoes. If possible i remove the insert from the shoe but if i cannot these will fit and work overtop of that the powerstep pinnacle maxx i tried were too big for dress shoes and regular shoes but the powerstep full length orthotic works perfect for all of those shoes. I am using the powerstep pinnacle maxx now in my running shoes but other than in running shoes feel that the original powerstep is better for everyday use.

Powerstep Pinnacle Length Orthotic Insoles (Health Personal Care) FAQ.

I had originally had orthotic inserts from my pediatrist's office and i wanted to purchase a second pair (but didn't want to return to the dr office! ) i purchased these and they seem to work well for my foot condition, which is morton's neuroma. I would recommend these as a good orthotic insert for that condition. These met my expectations and i would probably purchase them again. -Notice from . Alice, Georgia

- S. BullockOnly needed one to help offset leg length issue. Price was cheaper than ordering one. So i ordered the pair. My physical therapist was impressed with the quality . Then shocked with the price. Excellent

I do love my powerstep orthotics. They were prescribed to my husband and i by a podiatrist who diagnosed us both with plantar fasciitis. We were walking too many miles and eventually it caught up with us. I now replace the insert inside my tennis shoes or hiking boots with the powerstep insoles and we walk all we want. I notice that even my back feels better when i have these in my shoes. We had both tried other brands prior to these and they helped, but none as much as the powerstep pinnacle. I would highly recommend for anyone suffering from pf.

Powerstep Metatarsal Pads Ball of Foot Cushion

A pair of heels or dress shoes can wreak havoc on your feet, especially the ball of the foot. This front area of the foot, comprised of the metatarsal bones, is very sensitive and prone to damage and pain when too much pressure is put on it. Powerstep s metatarsal pads transfer weight away from the metatarsal bones to relieve pinched nerves.

The F.A.Q. for Powerstep Pinnacle Plus Orthotic Inserts (5009)

These supports are a dream especially if you have plantar fasciitis. I honestly went from having my feet hurt every single day to being able to walk barefoot or in sandals for hours now. I now have several pairs of these that i have kept in several different shoes. I use them every day for everything. I will say that the first week hurt. They feel awful. I started wearing them during a convention though and had them on all day every day for a week. I honestly wish i started with just an hour or two a day and moved into them more slowly because i honestly almost threw them out. Once my feet got used to them though i was in heaven. . I've been wearing them every day since july of 2015 (still using the same pair now in january of 2016). They show some minor tears (the red is coming up a little on the toes of one), but for the price and the amount of use i get out of these they cant be beat. I have tried many much more expensive products that never gave me the results that these do. Amazing! just remember to work your way in to them slowly or it can prove to be quite painful.

A number of questions have been asked here.

I am new to insoles. I bought a pair of "klog mission" shoes from a scrubs store in august 2016 as i was experiencing pretty severe foot pain with my "regular" shoes and i stand / walk around on a hard floor for most of my work day. The new shoes helped a lot, but i ended up adding some removable ball of foot cushions for even more comfort. I've been wearing these shoes almost daily to work every since. This february it felt like the shoes, which have removable insoles, needed their insoles replaced. I thought about just buying some klog insoles, but then decided to see what else might be available. I ended up buying two different styles of powerstep insoles to try. This style was the winner. Having the metatarsal pad built into the insole is wonderful and the insoles i bought (women's size 9 to 9 1/2) fit perfectly (no trimming needed at all) into my size 9 klog shoes (which do run a little large, i usually fit a 9 1/2). I feel like i was a little lucky, as i didn't really know what i was doing. I was even able to reuse the klog insoles by inserting them into my existing slippers (which had absolutely no support) which made them wearable again.

I love these insoles. I wasn't sure how i would feel about the extra raised area in the middle, (i think they call it a metatarsal pad) but i really like them. I can work a 13 hour shift with these. I still have sesamoiditis after a sesamoid fracture and these insoles are more comfortable to me than the pinnacle insoles that powerstep makes. I am thinking about buying another pair for so i don't have to switch them out in another pair of shoes.

I am overweight (215 lbs, 5'7) and have flat feet. My pt tendons are more or less destroyed from years of arch support neglect. So, at the very least, i now require arch support just to place my feet on the ground. . First insoles recommended were carbon superfeet, which were fine initially but too rigid. They provided arch support but not impact support. . A friend recommended powerstep originals, which felt much better, but still not enough cushion. I use them, but only for brief walks (if i'm driving somewhere and only getting out to grab something quickly). . I finally tried these, pinnacle plus, and pinnacle maxx. These (the plus version) are for my work & walking shoes (brooks ghost 10's). I'm standing/walking for up to 6 hrs. Feet are sore by the end of the day but nothing like the pain sans insole. Now it's more like sore muscles.

R. Wimbish, Utah

I am in my mid-50's. When i was a teenager and into my 20's, i played tennis professionally. In those days the shoe technology was terrible, and tournaments were played mostly on concrete courts. As a result of the years of pounding and stress fractures, one of my feet is ruined and the other one is merely mis-shapen and painful. I can't walk barefoot or in flip-flops for more than a few steps without limping. So i choose my footwear carefully. For decades, i paid thousands to have custom orthotics made by podiatrists and orthopedists so that i could walk more or less normally. Frustrated by the cost of custom orthotics, about 5 years ago i ordered every orthotic in the footsmart catalog and tried them all (approx 15 different designs). For me, the footsmart line of orthotics were instantly almost magic. I now own about 20 pairs amongst the pinnacle, pinnacle plus, and pinnacle maxx. I mix them up depending on the fit of the type of shoe i'm wearing. Now i routinely go in 10-12 mile hikes and can walk all day. I still have some pain at times, but nothing a few advil won't eliminate. . I haven't bought any more $900 pairs of custom orthotics since i switched to pinnacle. . The pinnacle plus is a nice addition to the line. They take a little getting used to, as you must gradually get accustomed to the additional metatarsal pad. They are particularly good for shoes that are either a half-size big, or shoes with soles that aren't quite stiff enough. . Bad feet are such a difficult and individual problem, i can't guarantee the pinnacle insoles will be as good for you are they are for me, but they're definitely worth a try.

V. Guest, Nordrhein-Westfalen says

I have high arches and metatarsal issues. Recently i got custom orthotics. Before that i used aetrex lynco sport l405 women orthotic - those were very helpful, but not as helpful as my orthotics or these insoles. They are almost as good as custom orthotics and cost less than lynco $59, or custom $390. I will be buying more of these. They fit nicely in clogs, boots, sneakers and are less bulky than my custom ones, maybe slightly bulkier than the lyncos. . I feel so happy that i discovered them because now i can outfit more of my footwear with something that my feet are happy in. Out of all insoles i have bought, these offer the best value for the price - bar none!

K. Carolyn, Bracknell Forest

I was desperately looking for a 1 of insoles that would provide support and relief for the ball of the foot pain due to a 10 hour shift speed walking! wasted a lot of money on those sold at the local pharmacies and due to the amount of walking they get flat soon! a co-worker told me about these insoles and this brand has a pair of insoles for every kind of foot pain. . If you need great support for your feet get these insoles - is more expensive to be in pain that to invest in yourself.

W. Nellie, Peterborough says

I have tried 3 to 4 different inserts, and these are the first ones that have really made a difference for me. They are stiff enough to support my arches, but also soft enough so that it does not cause pain while i walk. They also have plenty of cushioning. I have plantar facitis and very high arches, and when i wear them it is like i no longer have any foot problems. Also, these are the first inserts where the arches are actually high enough for my feet. The metatarsal is also great.

U. Guest, Bretagne

Giving a 4 because these are super comfy, but they run a little short, about a half size short. I bought these to wear in my shoes for zumba class. They are very comfortable and have excellent arch support. I am an under-pronater and have plantarfascitis. These inserts have helped me quite a bit. However, i bought a size 9 to 9 1/2 because i wear a 9 1/2 shoe and the insert is about a 1/2 size too short. Also probably not the best choice for zumba or any type of aerobic activity as the surface of the insert is slippery and my foot slides all over inside my shoe. I swapped these out with my everyday walking shoes and they are perfect for walking and running.

C. Williams, North Dakota says

Had horrible feet problems during pregnancy and for months after birth. Got these on a whim acter trying about 10 others and every remedy i could find and these were amazing! they fit right in my shoes no problem, took a day or two to get used to but they made my feet feel so much better! have been using them for almost a year and they're still in great condition. I've switched them around to different shoes and boots. Amazing arch support as well, i have very high arches and these are the first inserts that have given good support. Would definitely recommend these

G. Nicole, Alabama

Durability update 10/30/2017 - attached is a photo of the inserts, pulled from vasque hiking boots after putting (very roughly) about 690 miles on them. I'm ordering another pair of pinnacle plus mets, but imho these seem to wear faster than the inserts which come with the boots. The same model of inserts, used in my sneakers for the same length of time, are not yet showing and deterioration. -. . I ended up buying a few of these, for all my jogging/walking shoes and hiking boots. The physical therapist who's helping with my metatarsalgia (pain in the ball of my foot), was impressed with them, and mentioned she thought they were better (she didn't say how better) than a competing product which my clinic had been recommending. They slide right in, slide right out, fit snugly "as expected" inside my shoes/boots, and i got comfortable with them in just a minute or so. . The pt was going to install stick-on metatarsal pads onto my oem shoe inserts, but these powerstep inserts felt better, and were more durable/secure. . And these seem to be helping with my foot pain. Barefoot, i limp with pain. With these in my shoes, (and with the exercises from my pt) i have no pain, to minimal pain.

Z. Betty, Northamptonshire says

This is my second pair of insoles. Not because the first pair wore out but because i wanted another pair. They really help my feet and alleviate my metatarsal pain and morton s neuroma. I ve used lynco orthotics before but i think these are better. A combination of cushion and plastic support make them ideal for putting in my sneakers and any shoe that can be made loose because they take up room in the shoe making it a tighter fit. Golf shoes, boots or sneakers will work the best. Dress shoes not so much. Too tight a fit.

X. Kellie, Iowa

Had to write a review. I found out that i have morton's neuroma and my podiatrist said to order this brand and this particular orthotic with the met pad. And they are wonderful! the pain hasn't bothered me since i slipped this into my running shoes (but she also gave me a cortisone shot). I do not run, but work on a concrete floor all day standing for long hours and walking really fast all over the place.

M. Helen, North Yorkshire says

I have an injury to the sesamoid bone which is in the ball of the foot. The power step insoles tend to work well for me in general, but this one with the extra cushioning for the metatarsal, is the best match for off loading pressure on the ball of the foot. Before i got this insole, i was using dancer pads to help compensate. Dancer pads do help, but adding that with an insole created so much bulk all my shoes were too tight. Finding this insole allows the same improvement when walking without having to use the dancer pad. They fit perfectly into my shoe. I'm using the women's 7-7. 5 to fit a 6. 5 wide shoe size. This puts the arch support right where i need it, and i have not had to trim the insole.

. Noguera, Massachusetts says

This review compares the powerstep pinnacle plus met insoles to the icebug fat maximum cushioning insole with arch flex technology- medium arch. Both are well made with similar arch lift and adequate cushioning for hard use. The primary functional difference is in the placement of the metatarsal pad. The powerstep insoles locate the pad near the center of the foot just behind the ball, this placement matches the placement of the pad in a pair of expensive custom orthotics i ordered from an orthopedist for the relief of pain from fallen metatarsals. The icebug insoles place the pad farther forward, directly under the ball of the foot. While this is less effective for my condition, it may be perfect for other foot problems. If you've never used this type of insole before and aren't sure which is right for you, note that both are available from online store with free returns, which means you can order both and keep the ones that work for you. You can even try out the different arch sizes available for the icebugs. Online store pays the return postage. Just make sure you save all the packaging and avoid cutting the insoles to fit small or narrow shoes. Thank you online store!

O. Clara, Bromley

For a couple of years i've had morton's neuroma in one foot & recently started experiencing metatarsalgia in the other, so i seriously have trouble walking. I would be in so much pain that i'd have to limp along & that certainly curtailed any working out so my overall health was beginning to suffer. I did some research for anything that would help to alleviate the pain, learned what might work & found these on online store. Some of the reviews said it would take a while to get used to them so i was expecting them to be a little uncomfortable at first but to my surprise that was not the case. The moment i put my shoes on & took those first few tentative steps i was impressed with how comfortable they were, & best of all no pain when i walk! they are rigid but cushy & i do believe that little "bubble" makes all the difference for my feet. I haven't had them for quite a week but every day i've been able to walk for 2-3 miles without any of the sharp pain occurring & no limping! i had looked at pads that you attach to the shoe & i may still try those for my sandals but i like that i can use these in different shoes. I bought the size 8-8. 5 & i must say that it is a tight fit for my size 8. 5 sneakers so i was skeptical they would fit in my size 8 shoes but they do! i will buy another pair just to keep from having to switch them in different shoes so frequently. Anyone who experiences pain in their feet should try these, i would give 10 stars if i could!

N. Irene, Tennessee says

As when buying any orthotics, you have to break yourself into them. When you have worn sandals/flipflops all summer and switch to something with a lot of support, it takes a bit of getting used to. But, overall they are really doing my feet well. I feel more energetic and less tired at the end of the day. Should be able to wear all day in just a couple of days. These insoles are a really good quality. I have a pair that i have had for about 10 years and wanted to get the upgraded pair that is good for morton's neuroma. They seem to be helping to ease the pain. Hopefully, it will go away completely after the break in time. The price is fair for the quality.

. Whiteman, Maine

These have saved my life! ok, maybe not that, but they have made my life so much better. I have had sesamoiditis for years, and got away from using inserts after surgery. In my older age though, the problem had returned, and these proved to be the. Answer to my painful feet. I have used the powerstep arch support for years, based on my podiatrists recommendation. As the. Pain in the ball of my foot increased though, the arch only support wasn't enough. This did it !

. Courtney, Plymouth says

This is a first impressions review, subject to revision. . Wow. Really comfortable. I normally wear a pair of irish setter 1860's every day. While i love the boots, they don't have much cushion and my feet are tired by the end of the day. These insoles make the boots feel almost like sneakers. . Caveats - i don't know if i'll be able to get rid of the arch supports i used to wear in these boots. If not, these insoles may not provide enough room since they already have considerable arch support. Also, given the price, i'll want to get a good 6 months or so (at least) before i have to replace. . Update september 2016: 7-8 months later they are still comfortable and the lack of arch support hasn't been an issue. Also, they appear to be holding up just fine. Still wouldn't mind a bit more cushion, but overall, a good purchase.

D. Lawrence, Oregon

I walk 5 miles a day and as i have aged i developed pain in the balls of my feet. The podiatrist quoted me $300 for orthotic inserts and these went a long way to solving the issue for 1/10th of that. Support of the instep is first rate but i need a bit more padding under the metatarsals. I will either buy extra pads or the next step up of this insole on my next purchase. They have held up quite well over the summer and i feel like i have better balance with the conformal fit in the heal and instep.

F. Brenda, Washington says

Https:// i have had pain & swelling on the balls of both my feet. In & around those metatarsal bones. I have soaked my feet daily for years. I have applied ointments prescribed by a podiatrist for years. As soon as i placed these insoles in my danner hiking boots & began to walk. I felt a immediate reduction of my foot pain, with each new step i took. I will be purchasing many more of these. For the other boots & shoes i wear.

Q. Terry, Enfield

I have bought thousands of dollars worth of work shoes as well as the same amount or more in different types and brands of insoles, some as much as $100 a pair for insoles that claim to be comfortable for working, one pair even said my feet would not hurt even after 48 hours of consecutive 12 hour shifts but to no avail after a couple of days they was just like all the others in that they killed my feet or didn't keep them from hurting awful, i even seen 3 different foot specialist and had two different sets of custom orthotic insoles made at well over $300 each set, and the other dr did physical therapy for 3 months and even eventually injected cortisone in my feet which by the way i will never do again because it crippled me and forced me to miss a little over a week of work, but then i saw these as a daily deal for prime members on online store and i thought what the hell i have tried all the rest may as well give these a shot and god as my witness these have all but solved my foot pain problems in the work place, i went from barely being able to survive my normal 44 hours a week to now i average another 20 hours a week of overtime almost pain free at least in my feat lol, my only complaint is they only last me about 2 months at the most until i have worn holes where the ball of my foot contacts them and the top layer of fabric usually folds over at the edges on the sides and back of the heel causing a little discomfort but nothing i can't deal with, and the other things are first i liked the daily deal price much better than the normal price that i am now paying and the other is they are sometimes not available for purchase on online store and it will say they don't know when they will be back in stock so i just have to keep checking and when they become available again i buy 3 pairs or ever how many they have up to 3 so i will have them hopefully until the next time they are available, when you feet hurt like mine you will spend ever how much money it takes to get satisfaction, giving them 4 stars for the lack of availability and that i don't feel like they last long enough

T. Rita, Sutton says

If you work on your feet all day standing on concrete or marble floors the powerstep plus met insoles are a must. These insoles make stand on my feet on a ten hour shift feel great. I have no feet pain or sore lower back like i had before i started using this powerstep plus met insoles. All i had to do was take out the old insole from my working shoes and place the powerstep plus met insole in work shoe, done. These insoles are a great buy and great for my health too. I like coming home feeling great with no pain or soreness with my feet or back.

Top /powerstep pinnacle plus orthotic inserts Review

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

. Mays, Montana says

I had high hopes that this insert would help relieve pain from morton's nueroma. It is advertised that the built in metatarsal pads help relieve foot pain from mortons nueroma, but there is just one issue. The metatarsal pad is in the incorrect location to spread the metatarsal heads to relieve any pain. In fact, it made mine much worse by elevating the foot to put more pressure on the ball of the foot (much like wearing a high heel). I brought them to my podiatrist and he confirmed that it was not correctly placed. I thought maybe i ordered the wrong size, but he confirmed that they were the correct size, just wrong placement of the metatarsal pad. For the price and claiming to be the "podiatrist relief for pain" i was hopeful, but it is not for morton's nueroma (even though it is falsely advertised as such).

F. Hurst, Alaska

I do 3 miles on the treadmill daily at a moderate pace (4 mph) and i have flat feet. I have been using dr. Scholl's $50 insert from their kiosk, and i felt another product could give me more support. They actually gave me less support than the dr. Scholl's. But i had purchased new tennis shoes 1/2 size bigger so these inserts can be worn with the dr. Scholl's, and my arches and calves do feel better with both inserts. I wouldn't buy these again and i feel like i wasted my money on them.

D. Nicole, South Dakota says

Considering these were the more expensive of the 3 i ordered, they were the least helpful. The arches were not high enough, the met pads were in the wrong spot, and they didn't have enough cushion. I kept the veejoy ones.

K. Gladys, Alberta

I was looking for a cheaper alternative to my abeo metatarsal inserts. These ones just didn't do it for me, which is a shame because they fit my shoes perfectly. If you're looking primarily for arch support, these will probably do you just fine, but if you really need the metatarsal support, i would look elsewhere.

. Kathlene, Massachusetts says

They fit perfectly into my shoes, but didn t help with the arch. Very expensive for not working in the end. I bought a silicone arch support - that are much better and only a third of the price.

S. Guest, Essex

The arch in the insoles are wwaaayyyyy too hard! i wanted to return them, but i waited too long. Bought some $8 scholl's insoles at target that were a much better fit. Oh well!

I. Campbell, Warrington says

I bought this product with high hopes, having loved similar insoles from powerstep in the past - however, this time i was disappointed. I ended up having to cut them down to get them to fit in narrower shoes, only to realize after wearing them for a while that the metatarsal pad was simply in the wrong spot. I compared to previous orthotics from my doctor, and it's considerably further back on the foot and causes pretty severe pain. . On top of that, i just now realized that i may have received the wrong size from online store - there are two stickers on the outside of the box, and the "official" looking one from powerstep indicates that it was a men's 6-6 1/2 rather than a women's 6-6 1/2. Of course, you'd think if they were really too big i would have the opposite problem with the metatarsal pad - so who knows. I am past the return window with altered orthotics so i'm out of luck; overall, an expensive failed experiment.

L. Amanda, Plymouth

I have morton's neuroma in both feet, but it's worse in my right foot. I tried to small pads and they helped some, but would hurt sometimes worse than the condition. I was hoping the integrated metatarsal pads would work. But the pad is not in the right place for me. Going to return and try something else.

. Helen, Poitou-Charentes says

A bit too hard for me. My podiatrist told me to stop using these because they are a bit too hard and not thereby providing enough cushion for my plantar fascia bands (on both feet). Instead my podiatrist recommend more cushioning and recommended the powerstep comfortlast full inserts. . I can not say that the comfortlast will work for everyone, but they are more comfortable and provide better cushioning for my plantar fascia. After a couple weeks of the using the comfortlast, my plantar fascia pain has improved dramatically.

U. Cageen, Hartlepool

After cutting the insoles for them to fit inside the shoes properly, they were way too uncomfortable to wear due to my foot feeling squeezed inside the top of the shoe. There was not enough space for my foot to feel comfortable due to the shoe fabric on top of my foot and the insole on the bottom of my foot. The instructions that came with the insole recommended "removing the existing insole if possible", but i did not want to damage my shoes by removing the existing insole.

N. Colleen, Washington says

These were very comfortable for about 3 months, then the padding settled and they are no longer very comfortable. I did like the pad the help with my mortons neuroma. For the price, these should have lasted at least 6-9 mths. I would not recommend these. The top layer of the insole started coming off about 4 wks after i started using them.

H. Irene, Centre

I bought this particular insert for the metatarsal support. As that may have seemed to help, the heel was so thick, that my back of my foot would constantly slide up and down (as if it were going to come out of my shoe) while walking. It was disappointing, because other than that- the insole seemed as it may help my metatarsal pain. Sizing: i wear a size 8 in athletic shoes. I ordered the 8-8. 5 and they seemed to fit fine in my shoe, other than the heel being thick. Item was returned b/c unable to wear.

. Julia, Hertfordshire says

I was disappointed to find that he metatarsal arch support is rather small (just 1. 5x1. 5 inches) and for me doesn't give adequate support to the area immediately behind the ball of the foot. So i plan to go back to ordering the regular pinnacle and adding a felt pad in that area as i've done in the past

Just received and put into the shoes that cause my morton neuroma to fire up. When i stood up, no more morton neuroma on fire. Only problem i have right now is the arch support thing is a little off and might cause problems down the road. Until then, i give it 5 stars. If the arch support causes problems, then as far as my individual situation, it would be a one star product. I will be optimistic and hope no problems with the arch. Oh, perfect fit to size. They are in new balance walking shoes. Who would have figured that new balance had crappy insoles, but i worn them for maybe 8 months without morton coming to visit, so i am stuck with the shoes. . Ps: after a day of wearing this, something from the heel/arch area is kind of cutting into my arch area. Very uncomfortable, and the kind of thing that isn't likely to get better with time. I think i am going to return this item. The morton neuroma part works just fine, so i am taking away two two more stars for the arch problem.

Thinline item. Sturdy and flexible. Great idea to put both supports on one unit. Very easy to trim. I took a 2 stars off as the "one size" limits the placement of my metatarsal support. It needs to be placed more forward for me. I had to buy metatarsal arch supports and use those. I wasn't too happy that i had to go out and spend more on an already pricey item. With my customization, the job gets done. My shoes are a size 13 d men's. I would recommend if your feet are smaller by 2 sizes or so.

When i first started using these insoles, they felt great! . . But, maybe it's due to the way i walk/run and where i put more weight and pressure. Unfortunately, about 3-4 months after purchasing these insoles, the heel part of the top padding began to degrade. Now, just about the entire heel has exposed white plastic from underneath the padding. . I just wished they lasted longer for the price i paid.

I think something has changed in these. I ordered a pair for my sister who always wears these. She said they are causing her nothing but pain in her legs, knees, hips and lower back. She has never had pain before with these.

W. Broyles, Nova Scotia

Really disappointed in this expensive orthotic. The quality is great, the insole is precisely the size of my foot, and the pad is a nice thickness - but the placement is terrible for morton's neuroma. I pulled a photo from the internet and added my own marks to demonstrate. The red area is the location of the discomfort; the magenta area is the correct location of padding for morton's neuroma and metatarsalgia. The yellow circle is where the pad is actually located. Not only does it feel awkward, it has zero effect on the metatarsal heads. If anything, they felt more pinched with the pads than without, as if i'd stepped into a higher-heel shoe. Perhaps i just have oddly proportioned feet, and the pad would fit into the hollow behind the metatarsal heads on other people. In any case, i'm going back to the small pads that you place on your own insole.

O. Bertie, Nord-Pas-de-Calais says

I bought these insoles hoping io find an arch support and metatarsal support at the same time. The metatarsal support was way too far back to provide any support.

Z. Monique, Knowsley

They seem very stiff and hard. I was able to return for my refund.

. Adrienne, Durham says

Expensive, failed in just over month, holes coming under balls of my feet. Was satisfied till then. Would not recommend.

A. Hannah, Leicester

Bought these to alleviate pain/discomfort from morton's neuromas in both feet. Thought the metatarsal padding would help. So far i have been unable to wear these for more that about 30 min. At a time because the pressure points from the arch and met pat are very uncomfortable. I'm hoping that with continued use i'll get used to them because it does seem to dissipate the discomfort from the neuromas.

Q. Edna, Tameside says

Bought them for my husband as he has a morton s neuroma. He said he couldn t really tell much difference in his pain after wearing these inserts for about 3 weeks now

E. Walsh, Kentucky

I bought these orthotics because i have some metatarsal discomfort. I have never used an orthotic prior, so i don't really know how it should feel. I can only say these orthotic insert have a lot of arch support and it tends to feel like my arches is supporting my weight when i put my shoes on with the inserts. I have high arches so my feet are not used to anything pressing into my arches. After 10-15 minutes i seem to almost get accustom to the arch support, i'm still aware of the insert. Can't say the inserts have helped my metatarsal issues, but i have only used the inserts in my running shoes and i only run about 3 times a week for 45 minutes.

. Cindy, New Hampshire says

Shipped quickly, so that was great. Just a little puzzled by the odd fit of the met pad. It's placed lower than usual for my foot than my other orthotics - basically mid -arch. Too low to lift my met heads. Maybe it's my particular foot, but half an inch makes all the difference in the world.

V. Whiteman, Nevada

These are the most uncomfortable insoles i ve ever tried. Not just uncomfortable. Painful. Tried wearing them for short times, then longer. Different shoes etc etc. Gave them every chance to be better. After it was too late to return them, i finally gave up. Have bought several other brands here that are fine.

C. Imelda, Manchester says

I really expected the support part to be closer to the ball of my foot too help spread my toes, but it really doesn't. Plus, my insurance did not allow me to put them on even though i was diagnosed with a problem from my doctor and the label shows i would. So out the money, no deductions and they don't feel right.

G. Audrey, Oklahoma

I have plantar fasciitis and i've been wearing orthotics for years. These orthotics were not helpful for my feet. They were definitely uncomfortable. First of all they are not true to size. I wear another orthotic of this same manufacturer and these are a full inch larger. Second the metatarsal bump was also not comfortable. People need to try them and see how it fits their feet and decide. Each one has different foot issues and shapes. I'm sending them back and not reordering this particular model.

. Cecilia, Kansas says

If you have high arches, i think you will find relief with these insoles. I have low arches and therefore sent them back- hence the three stars. . The insoles achieve a good balance between providing stiff support without causing your feet to ache. Moreover, the cushioning is a nice touch. I was able to slide them into my brooks ghost 9 without trimming. . I found the arch to be high and the arch support to be substantial. Due to the high arch, my foot constantly slid forward in my shoe.

J. Smith, Brandenburg

The only insoles i ever use, and i've tried a ton. Great if you have high arches or ball of foot pain. They only last about six months of normal use, which is the only downside besides what is a comparably high price. For the price, i'd really expect them to be a much longer-lasting solution.
