Review for /powerstep comfortlast full shoe inserts

Price was 27. I suffer with plantar fasciitis and i use these in all of my shoes. I wouldn't be able to make it through the day without them. I had just about given up on wearing flats until i found these. You may need to go about 1/2 size bigger in your shoe to make it a comfortable fit, but wayyyy worth it.

Powerstep Comfortlast Full Shoe Inserts Shoes

PROS
  • Good product recomended by mt podiatrist just have to trim to fit shoe
  • I'm a huge fan of the powerstep line of insoles (they work really well for me). This particular set is best for when my plantar fasciitis is at its worst. They don't offer much in the way of arch support, but they are super squishy and give me the cushioning i need. Once my plantar fasciitis starts to go away, i move up to the blue pinnacle or red pinnacle maxx, which offer a lot more support, but don't have as much cushioning. I highly recommend powerstep over all other brands of insoles. I've tried others and this brand consistently works well for me.
CONS
  • These insoles seem to have cushioning for the sake of cushioning. The cushioning is not well placed though. They are analogous to a mid seventies oldsmobile sedan- big, floating and not well controlled.
  • As others noted, these are not at all like powerstep's longtime line of insoles. I understood they were not rigid, but expected a nice level of cushier arch support i figured i'd add powerstep arch boosters if they weren't enough under the arch. Unfortunately, these have only that squishy impression of arch support that just compacts under body weight. That's what so many other otc brands have, and not what i'd expect with the powerstep name on them. Worse, they are sadly designed in a way that they simply won't work with powerstep arch boosters. Powerstep's niche has been to provide the real arch support that other brands do not. When they bought out stable step, they should have added something to these very "meh" insoles. Regular powersteps, like pinnacle, are far more "stable" then "stable step" but it would be great to have a sort of marriage of more cushioning with that effective powerstep heel-arch shape and support. Yes, these give you cushion and feel great at first. They are ok in that they are better than barefoot or a totally flat insole, but no, they will not give you the real arch support you need to stay on your feet for long if you are prone to heel spurs / plantar fasciitis.
  • These were really good at first. But then after a little over a month of wearing them. The cushion just wore out and were no longer comfortable. I was hoping that for the price i paid, they would last longer than the cheap dr. Scholls inserts did. But sadly. They didn't. I stand a lot at work and thought that since these were listed as maximum cushioning they would work great for me. But i guess i will have to keep looking for a better solution to my aching feet!

I know it's all psychological but i swear that the first time i wore these my basketball game was on a whole new level - i really can't explain it. Unfortunately i played just as horrible as i normally do the next time i played so these aren't magical but i still highly recommend them. !"

(0) Question: Please can someone tell me if this insoles support firm? the ones from doctor sholls are so soft they bend and don't really give support.

(1) Question: Dr. wants me to buy the powerstep model, because i need the cushioning, but i'm concerned about my high arches. can arch boosters be worn with them?

(2) Question: Do these have a stiff, hard arch support or does it collapse when weight is on them?

Powerstep Original Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles

These are great if you hav orthotics like me and get tired of transferring zthem from one pair of shoes to the other. They obviously don't replace orthotics, but for short periods (like a golf game) they are perfect.

Encapsulated design with a firm but flexible support shell, built-in arch support and heel cradle for increased stability. Moderate, dual-layer cushioning. Ultra-thin, low profile design fits in most casual, dress and athletic shoes. An ideal orthotic insert for preventing and alleviating pain associated with plantar fasciitis, metatarsal pain, heel or arch pain and discomfort, mild to moderate pronation and sore/aching feet. Powerstep Original Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles (5001 01d) FAQ.

Firm arch support and comfortable as long as they are cut correctly to size. I am a size 8 and i had to cut a little to make it fit right. I didn't realize it was a little too big until i tried walking with them and man i was in pain within 15 minutes soon after. They truly are very good insoles but i would suggest you use one of your old insoles to make absolutely sure they fit properly or you are really going to regret it -Notice from . Bethany, Havering

I bought these for a pair of boots that i also purchased from online store. In the reviews for the boots, it advised that the boots didn't have very much support and recommended an inside support shoe pad. I bought these for the boots, sight unseen. The boots, although comfortable with the insole, were very uncomfortable without the added support. With these shoe supports the boot is very comfortable. I would definitely buy again

Powerstep-original-full-length-orthotic-shoe-insoles-(5001-01d) set picture

- M. EmmaI used these to add some life to a pair of shoes that was still in fairly decent shape except for the insert. I wear my inserts out a lot of times before wearing the shoe out and i will be able to re-use these in several different shoes. Feels great on the feet in terms of support. Would buy again and recommend you get them if you are in a similar circumstance.

This is my second pair. The first pair was prescribed to me by my podiatrist before my bunion surgery. I have continued to use them in post surgery phase. For all new users you need to allow your feet to get used to being reshaped on how you walk and run. Ever notice when you buy a pair of running shoes or any shoes you are paying $80-150/pair or more, the insole in the shoes are worth about $0. 50 ? well the mfg wont give you quality insoles in cheaper or more expensive shoes because they know that quality insoles will increase the life to the shoe since you will likely wear them properly and not buy more pairs of shoes. Try these out. Don't stack the insoles as many tend to do, if the old ones are glued in , work them out ot replace them with these. Give them a little time to get your arches get use to them and you will probably never look back. Your calves and heels may cry a little in the beginning since you are shifting the "footprint" of your step which will transfer the changes in your joints and muscle up your ankles and calves and maybe even knees. It is ok, as you have even using those muscles and joints to compensate for poor walking habits anyways and they are just thanking you.

Powerstep SlimTech 3/4 Length Orthopedic Foot Insoles Support All Sizes

I have been bothered recently by plantar fasciitis. My wife has had this in the past and "diagnosed" my symptoms as identical with hers. She had been to a podiatrist in the past for her symptoms and among other things had purchased "powerstep pro" inserts from him. I have seen an immediate and consistent relief since beginning to use these in my shoes, as well as the full length ones in my slippers. Highly recommended.

Slide the powerstep slimtech 3/4 into your shoes for an extra pep in your step. Prescription-like polypropylene support, calibrated with flexibility for comfort. Stabilizing heel cup and "neutral" or flat platforms at the heel and midfoot for amazing cushioning and comfort. Unique hypercel cushioned insole. Special anti-bacterial sanitiz fabric to reduce slippage and heat, keeping feet drier.

Powerstep Slimtech 3/4 Length Orthopedic Foot Insoles Support Sizes (501203as) FAQ.

My old custom orthotics were slim like these over-the-counter ones and fit in most any shoe. I had new custom ones made recently and they are huge, far to wide for most any shoe but trainers. Not wanting to spend yet another $250, i thought i'd give these a try since they have such a slim profile and are a reasonable price. They are great! they fit in any of my shoes without filling them in too much and making the shoe slip. They stay in place (with no adhesive needed) and offer just the right amount of arch - probably a bit lower, not an exaggerated "hump" as some brands. I've only worn them twice for several hours so i cannot comment on whether the blue lining on top is going to come unattached as some reviews mentioned. For me, i like them well enough that i've ordered another pair so i don't have to move them from shoe-to-shoe so often. Great product so far . . . -Notice from E. Whiteman, Newcastle upon Tyne

These are by far and away the best orthotics i've ever used. I have a morton's neuroma on one foot which i have virtually forgotten about since getting these years ago. I wear mostly flat shoes but these also work with the limited pairs of low heels i occasionally wear. Some reviewers commented negatively in regard to some issues they've had and i've had a learning curve with mine but with a little care, i literally get years out a pair and am only replacing them because i've worn through the blue lining. The black foam cushion extends a little beyond the white plastic support. When taking off my shoe i've learned to loosen the laces enough so i can lift my arch far enough away from the orthotic to not drag and catch my sock the foam edge near the ball of my foot. Over time, my shoe bed molds shape and this becomes less of a problem even if i end up eventually cracking that part of the foam lining. The grip pads on the bottom will shift over time and i just re-stick them in place although at some point i tear them off as my shoes acquire a permanent indent locking them in place. I'm hard on them. I live in them. I love them.

- U. PaigeI wanted slim orthotics for a pair of narrow shoes. I tried several orthotics. Once inside the shoe they all added volume thus reducing space for me feet. These ones are really slim. They do not have much padding, but do have the firm arch support. When i put on my shoe, i make sure that the orthotic is at the very end (touching the heel) and then it stays there throughout.

These are a life saver for me. I have very high arches and needed better support in my shoes. However, a typical full insole made my shoes too tight and my heels come out of the back of all my shoes. These are supportive, but are also thin enough that i can put them in shoes and still wear them (without needing to purchase bigger shoes). The support itself is pretty rigid, but not completely solid, and the padding is nice on my feet. I wear these every day in my thin flats.

Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles (5015 01e) FAQ.

These are truly great. Looking at these i was thinking to myself these aren't going to work. It'll just be like everything else and i'll have plantar fasciitis pain forever. Then i tried these out and put them in my shoes and i found i could go a whole day without the severe pain. There was still minor aches and pains but it was more normal than what i'd been experiencing. These are truly a miracle product. Nothing really comes close to these aside from protalus but they are more expensive and wear out in less than a month. I feel like these could last a year. Only time will tell. -Notice from Q. - P. CageenI switched from dr. Scholl's custom fit 320. I don't feel as if the arches of the powerstep are as high or solid as the ones from dr. Scholl's. They work well for everyday use but if you are going the extra mile i'd use something a bit more supportive.

Very good arch support. This makes for a more stable walking pattern and should help with a bunion caused by shoes without enough arch support. Would give a 5 but feel these could have a little more padding for comfort. I hope they hold up, and will update this review.

Ymmv ymmv ymmv ymmv. . I gave it 4 stars because it was not the right ones for my feet. . I'm used to the rigid powerstep orthotics, and bought these thinking they were a new model of rigid ones with a layer of foam over the top of them. They are not. They are "padding all the way down. ". . For most people, they may work wonderfully, but for me, used to the rigid inserts, they didn't give the support i needed. Luckily, i got them on prime and they went back for a full refund, so i'm a happy walker. Hooray! . . I am not recommending that you stay away from them. Just that you know what you're buying. If you like soft inserts, these are really, really deluxe ones! i've never seen any even half as good.

. Angelica, Arkansas says

On my feet 12 hrs/day on concrete. Fast paced work. Insoles suggested by my podiatrist who said i have little cushion left on my feet. These are providing a stop gap measure. Last perhaps 3-4 months and then i replace. Serve better than other varieties i have tried.

O. Allen, Gloucestershire

The amount of cushioning has helped my heel pain. Other inserts were too rigid or didn't have enough cushioning. However for my feet there was too much arch support. I was able to cut away some of the material under the arch for a better fit. Wish they made an additional model with less arch but otherwise the same.

U. Imelda, Limousin says

Simply the best. For heel pain, plantar fasciitis. I have ordered more than once. No problems and have recommended to my children to wear as they spend all day standing at work. They got them and are very happy too.

A. Alice, Nordrhein-Westfalen

I normally order the blue ones. But this time i decided to try these due to the reviews on heel protection. I have to say so far my heels feel great. These maybe my new favorite powerstep.

I. Eva, Barking and Dagenham says

Not a typical orthotic feel that is stiff. The first impression is the obvious and immediate comfort without any adjustment period. The magic is you don't feel the impact of the orthotic; almost seems if it isn't working. I deal with a bit of diabetic neuropathy. The support works well enough to offset the numbing that sometimes interrupts sleep. Won't use anything else.

B. Zelda, Plymouth

I bought them for tennis sneakers and they are too thick and slippery to use on the court. My feet slid in the shoe to the point it was dangerous. I bet for walking they d be really nice.

. Megan, Connecticut says

Perfect inserts for shoes with ones that have feet problems.

Y. Cindy, New Jersey

These are great inserts to provide good support for the arches. This powerstep is not as stiff as their other model, so it provides more cushioning.

W. Juliana, North Carolina says

Lots of cushioning, and good support. If you have a pair of shoes with a lot of built in arch support, but want a little extra cushion, these are perfect! i've tried the powerstep original in my current tennis shoes, and it's too much pressure on my arches. It's too bad that you don't get a decent insole with 90% of the shoes sold today, but that's generally the case. My only complaint is the price, but at least their made in the u. S.

G. Guest, Poole

I have been suffering from damaging the tendon in one of my feet it makes it feel bruised and hard to walk on my heel, these do help, they don't last forever in my work shoes but i am on my feet about 40 hours a week, sometimes more, so the shoes break down, too. I will definitely buy these every time i get new shoes, they do make a difference for me. Thanks.

S. Perez, Suffolk says

I have a lot of foot problems, and these powerstep insoles are great. My one foot turns in quite a bit and these insoles really help and are very comfortable.

T. Brenda, North Dakota says

These comfortlast insoles make the 4th style i have tried and the 3rd made by powerstep. They are a good insole and very comfortable as the name implies. However, for my flat feet, they are just a little too soft to give me the support my arches require for extended periods of time. So, although a very good product, i must keep them exclusively in my workout shoes, which get used for about an hour a day. In that application they excel because they absorb more shock than the others. This is very important for me as i've had 2 knee surgeries and i do lots of calisthenics and running in place on a concrete floor. For this use the comfortlast are superior to my other inserts (protech, pinnacle & superfeet). By-the way, although i like them all, the powerstep protechs are my overall favorite.

H. Nancy, City of London

Ordered these for my daughter. She has very low arches and was experiencing a lot of pain on the bottoms of her feet whenever she had to stand for any amount of time. We were recommended this brand at the running store and i ordered two more pair from online store. They helped her almost immediately. Within a couple days she was completely pain free. She has been using them for about 4 months and uses them in all her shoes. I would highly recommend them for low arch support.

. Debra, Shropshire says

My podiatrist recommends these for my plantar fasciitis. I'm not convinced they are the best solution because they sometimes make my arches hurt even more. However, i do think they provide good support. I just can't wear them all the time. I find they are most comfortable when paired with shoes that have thick, but soft, cushy soles. They fit best inside tennis shoes.

V. Rose, West Berkshire

Excellent insert with extra cushion and some arch support.

. Nicole, Haringey says

Bought my first pair at the podiatrist office after a foot exam. Been having some foot pain for a few months. I liked them right away. I've been moving these inserts from one pair of shoes to the next, testing them out and figuring out how more i would need. Very supportive. Nice cushion. I had to look on online store and see if i could find them here. Obviously much less expensive than the doctor's office. I'm going to use these in my field boots and in a few of my shoes where i have the room for them. If you have shoes that are pretty tight, these may be a bit much.

E. Guest, Berlin

I'm a nurse and my plantar fasciitis had been acting up to the point where i was limping. My doctor recommended theses and they fit great! it doesn't feel uncomfortable or anything it literally gives you the support you need! l can actually walk again!

K. Courtney, Leeds says

Can't say enough about the powerstep inserts. They are pricey but work. I have been using them in all my shoes for over a year since i had a couple very painful bouts of planter fasciitis and have not had a reoccurrence.

. Wilson, Thurrock

These inserts are amazing. I work 12-hour shifts in the hospital which requires me to do a lot of standing and walking. I would suffer with a sore back, hips, knees, feet. After wearing these inserts for one day all of the soreness just disappeared. I would certainly recommend these inserts for people who need cushioning in their shoes.

Z. Alba, Halton says

Powerstep has got this one right! great support with outstanding cushion. Be mindful 13 to 13 1/2 may run small. You may need a 14. I have issue with my feet, from achilles tendentious, planter fasciitis, to heel spurs from years of standing due to construction work. I have had orthotics' since 1987 from several foot doctors over the years. I use the whole powerstep line and place in all my shoes and sneakers. If you wear work boots and have issues these are a must. Most shoes do not have the support. If you on the heavy side, large frame well then comfortlast was built for us big guys in mind. Remember a strong solid steel shank work boot with these comfortlast inserts for support and you will not be fatigued by the end of the day. (side note stay away from steel toe unless required, remember the steel could get crushed and take your toes off). If you feet feel good, you fell good, your happy life is good!

F. Donna, Maryland

Theae power step insoles have a slightly softer arc then the pinnacle models and have more cushion overall. These are true to size. They will not fit a size 12 show. You need a 13 or a eur 47 to fit these is your shoe

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

V. Moore, Vermont says

I love the powerstep protech inserts. I wanted something that might stay in a pair of shoes that have a cupped heel, but an open back. I wear them around the house and do not care what it looks like - i wanted some arch support and for it to stay in the shoe. The rubber-like bottom of these seemed a good option. . Out of the box, there were softer and more flexible than the protech - so far so good, i thought. The arch felt firm - again, seemed good. They are a teensy bit narrower in the toe box - that concerned me a bit since the protech's are barely wide enough. Oddly, while they do not cover the full sole of the shoe in the toe box area, my toes were always supported - at least for the few minutes i wore them. . I put them in my casual shoes that i use in the house first. The arch was much too high and too wide - at least for my foot - and it forced me to walk on the outside of my foot. Now, maybe this would be good for a someone who pronates; since i have wider feet and already tend to walk a bit on the outer edge of my foot, this was not good at all! . . I thought maybe it was the shoe, so i put them in a pair of saucony cohesion shoes i had close by. It was indeed better, but the arch support was not at all comfortable for my foot. I have a moderately wide foot with a high arch and high instep. When i compared it to the protech, there are two notable differences. . First, in the protech, there is no material beneath the arch support - it is rigidly formed and when you put weight on it, it can flex downward. In the comfortlast, the whole arch area is filled with a softish squishy material. It seems that it would give, but if the shoe does not have a flat bottom (which my casual shoes did not), that would be forced even higher. These will not work in a shoe that has any contour in the arch area! but, even in the saucony, there isn't really anyplace in the shoe bottom for the arch support to flatten into - hence it feels too high for me. . Second, it seems that the arch area is slightly different. It is almost impossible to be sure as i do not have 3-d modeling, :-), but my best visual comparisons seem to show that the arch area is slightly longer - toe to heel - and slightly wider. . All in all, these do not work for me in any shoe that i have, so are going back.

K. Emma, Arkansas

Hey are not comfortable at all. They hurt my feet. They are the worse thing this far that i have ever put in my shoes.

L. Wayt, Florida says

These did not fit into my shoe as expected, hard to find a shoe to use them for. Look incredibly comfy though.

B. Guest, Rutland

Not my first choice for my arch i have found others a better fit for my foot.

W. Delgado, Bradford says

I was expecting more support. This is just a cushion. It's a very bouncy cushion and i am sure it'll be great for some, but for me it didn't come close to any other powerstep product i have tried. The label states that it's anatomically designed, but this doesn't mean it supports the arches.

P. Sharon, Hawaii

These are fine, but the blue ones (same brand) work much better for my feet.

J. Edna, Coventry says

These are not the strong arch supports that i expected to get from powerstep

Q. Valencia, Texas

These are too soft for full support.

S. Rose, Maine says

The blue ones are better. The heel is not as deep as the blue ones.

G. Guest, Thueringen

A podiatrist recommended these to me. They are comfortable and prevent pain in my plantar fascia band for both feet. They are a little thick and may not work for dress shoes. Because of the thickness, they may work for some boots and some walking shoes. In order to fit them into my ecco dress shoes, i had to use a shoe stretcher, which some people may not want to do. . Otherwise, these insoles are comfortable and prevent pain after a few months of use. They seem to be built for comfort, rather than support/durability. As such, they may not last as long and i may have to buy a new pair soon (i can tell because they are softer than the other powerstep insoles that i have tried and my feet have permanently indented these insoles after a few weeks). . *edit 5/30/18: holy cow! the price actually doubled since i first bought these in september 2017. I will have to wait for a price drop*. . *edit: 9/24/18: i went to see another podiatrist. It turns out that i have "tendontis of the interior tibia tendon" not plantar fascitis. Being misdiagnosed, i was performing stretches and exercises for plantar fascititis that just exacerbated the problem. It is good to get a second opinion. Despite the first podiatrist recommending these insoles to me, i still have considerable foot pain after walking a lot at the end of the day, and these insoles lose elasticity after a few weeks. -with "tendontis of the interior tibia tendon", i received a brace and other treatment that the powerstep comforlast alone could not do.

E. Betty, Berlin says

These fit a little wide in a pair of wide width shoes. I tried to cut them to fit but wasn't happy with how my foot sat on them. I'm definitely sticking to the original.

D. Edith, Rhode Island

This adds thickness so tight fit in shoe. If the shoe is already thight, this is not for you

Y. Melissa, Enfield says

I like the extra cushion, that makes very comfortable. However, i still have pain after 8 working hours. Then i read their manual and found out this model isn't fit my situation . This model doesn't work out for me, but their manual gives a perfect suggestion!

C. Meyer, Georgia

Absorbs impact and has rubber arch support. The only downside is that these are thick and change the stability of the running shoe.

A. Anonymous, Nord-Pas-de-Calais says

Thought its gonna be maximum support but its too foamy and not supporting my arch at all. If i don't have to work around the whole day, it probably works but since my job is always on my feet. Not good

Z. Guest, Limousin

My wife purchased a pair of these inserts for herself. She is happy with the quality however use caution when trimming. The pads have cutting guidelines which are misleading. She trimmed them to her shoe size and they were too long. When she cut them to the next smaller size, they are now too short. Now she has two pieces of worthless foam.

H. Rowe, Languedoc-Roussillon says

These insoles are nowhere near any of the other powerstep insoles. These are very squishy, uncomfortably squishy. They are a high volume insole which means that they take up a lot of space and will not fit in already tight or regular fitting shoes. This insole may work for some, but i believe they provide no real support, and has too much gummy, rubbery, squishy gel in arch area. This may be good for those with high arches, but not for me, and even if you have high arches it s too squishy, and doesn t provide good support.
