Levi’s Men’s 505 Regular Fit Jean (220412) 665

Review for /levis mens 505 regular jean

Price was 24. "levi's are the best, " i thought. For the past 40 years i've been buying other brands and they get holes on the hips and crotch no matter how carefully i wash or how thoroughly i dry them. "pay less, get less, " i thought. "time to go back to levi's. " with the cheaper brands 33x32 is a little short and 33x34 is a little long, and my weight fluctuates depending on how much i snack and how much i walk, so sometimes a 33w fits and sometimes a 34w fits better. "better try the 34x34, " i thought. The fabric definitely felt a lot different but the waist was very loose and the inseam was too long. With cheaper brands i remedy that with a hot wash to shrink, but that didn't work with the levi's. So i ordered another pair, this time in the 33x32 size. Waist fits fine but the inseam is still too long. Reading other reviews i now see why: because it rides much lower on the hips. It still fits well enough to keep, as did the 34x34 pair, which i can wear for dirty work. But the next pair i order will be 33x30. As for the change in fabric quality, the fabric is definitely not the old denim we wore 50 years ago but materials are rapidly evolving and that may not be a bad thing. Only time will tell.

I read some reviews claiming that the quality of levi's denim was not what it used to be, that it was thin, and that the sewing of the jeans legs wasn't straight. Not in my experience. I usually get 505s in dark blue, but decided to go slightly lighter but not total acid-washed. I ordered the same size i'd been wearing for a while, and they fit perfectly. And though a tad more faded in color, these are perfect for casual wear but would be fine going out for dinner at most places. And having 2 pairs of 505s, slightly different in color but consistent in fit, so i can alternate, means they'll still be in good shape longer like wearing several pairs of shoes, instead of the same pair all the time. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Levi's Men's 505 Regular Fit Jean Review (220412)

Levi's, okay? the black 505 were a little bit of a surprise, a slightly stretchy denim (not what i expected). And a slightly lighter weight denim. But they fit well, look good. No complaints here. Nice to be able to order jeans by mail and know the size is the size you ordered. -. Gladys

  • I ordered two pairs of jeans in different colors from here and was slightly dissapointed in the second pair because they weren't stretch . I thought i had received the wrong type of jeans but then realized only some colors come in stretch and others don't stretch at all . I thought 505 jeans were all stretch since my first pair of them which i bought earlier this year were stretch . . But anyway asking on online store which are stretch and which aren't doesn't really help. There aren't any clear answers online . I checked out the levi's website and found out that these colors are stretch (although there is probably even more that stretch but these for sure should stretch ) :. . Navarro. Cash. Green leaf. Ficus. Double shot. Bolinas. Petrel. Hunters moon. Sargent cypress. . Overall i like these jeans i love the comfortable stretch fit i personally prefer these better than the standard versions , they're lighter and you don't feel restricted . They move with you and breathe better . The standard ones are ok but i don't find them very comfortable. I know some prefer the classic feel over the stretch versions . So thought i'd help out how ever i can to avoid recevieing the wrong type of jeans for you to avoid negative reviews
  • Levis 505 with zipper not buttons, roomy, stovepipe legs. I purchased a little larger to shrink/to fit. I miss the superbleach very light blue of the 1980s, cant wait for them to come back into style. Hate skinny and tapered legs. I have adequate calves not skinny. Even with skinny calves/legs the stovepipe look of equal width all the way down looks nice/normal and fits over boots. The front pockets are deep for keys etc. After many more washings these will fade and become softer. My jeans usually last me 5-8 years wearing them 4-6 days per week in normal wear, not working outdoors.
  • I love these jeans in general. They fit great, loose in the legs and just as measured around waste and in length and are so comfortable. Unfortunately, for my pair, the fly seems a bit off in the overlap, as in the unfaded blue doesn't quite seem to line up with the 'washed' portion and looks a bit funny, and at the same time, when seated, the fly area bulges out in an unflattering fashion, rather than folding over as would be normal in other pairs i have owned. . Not sure if it is abnormal is just something i haven't experienced before.
  • I've worn 505s for a number of years , so i felt pretty confident just clicking and ordering my go-to size. I was wrong. I ordered three pairs. None of them were the same cut, length, or size as my previous 505s, and worse still, they weren't even sized consistently among the new pairs i ordered. . As you can see in my photos, i took one of the pairs of the jeans i ordered and laid it out next to my normal, regular, trusted 505s. There is a six to eight inch difference in length! that's insane. I ordered these jeans because the size i have fits perfectly. Levis apparently decided they'd just tack on an extra six inches of denim for fun. What a bargain. . As you can see in the other pictures, i laid the other two new pairs out in comparison to all of them. They were four inches shorter than the other new pair i ordered. They were also two inches longer than my old, trusted pair. . Do not order these jeans unless you just love sending stuff back. They are in no way faithful to the original 505 fit, and are not even consistently sized among themselves. You'll get them and you'll be disappointed (and perplexed) at the inconsistency of the fit,
  • As of 2016, ls is still cutting 505 jeans as "low-boy" hip-huggers. Whether made in lesotho, pakistan, or vietnam, they are cut the same: much shorter in the crotch. The pockets are shorter, too, so items fly out of them when you pick them up off the shelf/chair/floor! specifically, by comparison with a brand-new pair of 34x29 from 1999: 21st century 505's are 11 3/4" front (top of waistband to crotch seam along the fly), 15 1/2" rear (top of waistband to crotch seam at middle belt loop), and 9 1/8" tall pocket (front tip to bottom of waistband). 20th century 505's were 12 3/8" front, 16 1/2" rear, and 10 3/8" pocket. That's a big difference! does it save money to shorten the uppers? yes, though i bet ls did it for fashion reasons, not cost-cutting. But they should have called the modern cut "505l" or "506" or somesuch. So, what can you do? well, try wrangler jeans, which don't fit the same, but if you've never tried them, it's worth a shot. Or, i recently purchased a pair of levi's 505 strong jean's (mild stretch, a performance fabric they branded "dyneema") and those are cut 1/2" longer than these, alas still shorter than 505's traditionally. But across the crotch, every little bit helps. "that's what she said. " (sorry, couldn't resist. :-)

Levi strauss needs to rebrand its 505 jeans so they are consistent, and online store needs to clarify its description of this product. Levi 505 jeans are not all 100% cotton. They do not all have the same fit. It seems to depend on the color, but it's unclear what makes the difference. They are made in different countries. . It's also unclear why they are called "regular fit. " that description appears on no label of any of the three 505 jeans i own. Two of the three have a label inside that prominently states "straight fit" and 505, and the term "straight fit" also appears on the size label. Those two are 100% cotton, are made from thick cloth one would expect from levi's jeans, and fit as expected. One of those is black and the other is light blue. The black pair is made in egypt, and the light blue pair is made in nicaragua. . In contrast, a slightly darker blue pair with the exact same levi's 505 label on the outside waist is very different from the two described above. It does not have a "straight fit 505" label inside. The term "straight fit" does not appear on the size label. The number 505 appears on the inside size label only in the cryptic number sequence "00505-1341. " this pair is not 100% cotton. According to the label, it is 72% cotton, 27% polyester, and 1% "elastane. " the material is much lighter and thinner than that of the others and also stretches slightly throughout the garment. The fit is different; it seems to sit lower on the waist. This pair is made in vietnam. It is not necessarily a bad pair of jeans, but it's not a pair of 505s as described here, like other pairs of "straight fit 505" jeans sold by this manufacturer, or as expected of any pair of levi's jeans i've ever owned. . As it is, and judging from other reviews on this page, there's no way to tell which type of 505 jeans you will get if you order them. Are all colors the same, so that if i order another black pair, it will be 100% cotton like the pair i just received? i don't know. If i order a different color, will it be 100% cotton and like a 505 pair i expect? i don't know. Levi's needs to disambiguate this brand (to borrow a term from wikipedia) and get its act together. It can't simply deny there's been a change. Many people on this website have described the changes. What is the deal? we don't understand. And online store, until levi's corrects the problem, fix your description of the product: acknowledge that some of these jeans may not be 100% cotton and may fit differently.

Click to see NoticeLevi's Men's 505 Regular Fit Jean (220412)"These were a very appreciated christmas gift. Sometimes a great pair of jeans is all you need to set the tone for a great day, too! overall, they're durable and priced well vs. Designer jeans. The fit was just as expected, and so was the color. Levi's styles and sizes seem consistent as described, especially with their cut and fit. They've washed well so far (no drastic color fading) and look wrinkle-free and fresh straight from the dryer. There's one caveat that may be the giftee guy's fault; he pulls up his jeans by the back belt loops, and eventually they'll pop free. Getting them stitched at home is nearly impossible, and it's quite costly ($20 in austin, tx) to have the loop re-attached in one spot. So, he's agreed to start using the waistband instead and save the loops for his belt. The rest of the denim is durable as it always has been and the zippers are solid and sturdy. It's always been a good experience with levi's brand!"

These rock. They are perfectly sized to shrink perfectly and fit like they are tailored for you. Soft without being flimsy, holdup well and look great. I could not be more pleased with these.

Levi's Men's 559 Relaxed Straight Fit Jean (005590422 060) FAQ.

It's interesting how you can buy two pairs of jeans, and other clothes, and each one fits a little differently. I bought two, pairs of these in blue and they fit fine. These will be fine too, but i wanted to state that levi's can do better, especially for the price point. -Notice from Z. Theresa, Durham

These are really great jeans. I like the fit. The legs are wider than most jeans sold nowadays though. Me thinks the skinny jeans revolution is terrible. I hate skinny jeans! however, due to the fact that the legs on these jeans are a little wider than many jeans sold nowadays, i feel that these jeans fit great. Very comfortable in my opinion. Good crotch! my only knock on these jeans is the price. I paid $39. 99 for my jeans from online store. I feel that the online store price is too high. While they would have probably cost more from a brick and mortar store, i shop at online store to save money. I feel i should have been able to save more money from buying these jeans on online store. The negative aspects regarding buying online remain the same. You have to wait to receive your order, product may not be exactly as described, or the product might not fit the way you like, are all detriments to buying online. Give those drawbacks, one should be able to save a good amount of money on a product when compared to offline purchased in my opinion. I just feel that these jeans should be cheaper on online store. However, i would most certainly purchase these jeans again in the future.

- . FinchI ve ordered these before so i didn t have any issues with this additional purchase but i will advise that people need to make sure to read the sellers/consumers comments on the sizing and colors to make sure you get what you want! i ll definitely end up purchasing another pair in the future!

Great jeans, fit perfect- since i don't change sizes and i'm not a huge fan of going to the mall, ordering online was the way to go. Jeans showed up just as described and fit exactly the same as the worn pair i was looking to replace.

Levi's Men's 550 Relaxed-Fit Jean

The only complaint that i have with levi's is that they are no longer made in the usa, but then what is. . The fit was as i expected, but they are sized smaller than they actually are, but i had to discover that. . They have been consistent in size over the years, for me that is. . You have to try them on before you buy them sight unseen. . My levi action slacks are 2 sizes larger than levi's jeans in the 550 relax, and i did find them a little inconsistent in size. . I once wore the action slacks from levi, now discontinued, which were great for holding the crease, the durability was outstanding. . I personally love levi jeans, but i once would have boycotted them for leaving the usa, but that's a whole other story isn't it.

More room in the seat and thigh creates an everyday laid-back look in the levi's 550 relaxed fit jean.

Levi's Men's 550 Relaxed-fit Jean (220604) FAQ.

This are classic levi's jeans. After getting the wrong size (labeled wrong on bag) twice from online store, i finally got the pair i ordered. These have a slight stretch to them which is nice for bending. . Con: it might just be my pair, but the zipper has a mind of its own. When my hands are in my pockets the zipper slides down. I've never had this issue before. -Notice from D. Imelda, Oxfordshire

Love the availability of so many different waist/length combos so it was easy to get the one that i know will fit me. And it has the normal waist height for those of us who hate low-waist-cut jeans that always feel like they re falling down.

- G. GloriaThese are the real thing. Perfect, fresh and exactly what you expect from levis. I know my sizes exactly, so when i bought these jeans i already had two happily worn out examples in my closet to compare them to. The fit and finish is exact. And the price is awesome! highly recommend this seller. I originally purchased a too small size, and they sent the replacements ahead of my return and i had them in no time. They picked up my previous pair and that was that!

Other than the waist being too small these are the same 550s i've been wearing for years. I usually buy my jeans at macy's partly because they vary slightly in size, so this is nothing new. Since you really don't know what you're going to get, and returns are a pain, i won't be buying my jeans at online store anymore.

Levi's Men's 502 Regular Taper Jean

Got it when it was on sale. Fit perfectly and looks really nice on my husband.

The most versatile of levi's tapered fits, the 502 regular taper fit pants feature a low-slung look and a subtly tapered leg. They sit at the waist with a regular fit through the hip and thigh. If you love a classic straight leg, give the 502 regular taper a try. This tapered fit is a more refined, modern option to the straight jean and is just as easy to style. The best part a tailor-inspired taper gives your shoes room to be seen.

Levi's Men's 514 Straight Fit Jean

I like levis 514 series jeans, they fit me well and they match the clothing i wear. My only criticism of the particular pants i received was the coloring quality. Some parts of the lower inner leg were colored when they really shouldn't be. But, i admit i am a bit picky of the few items of clothing i own.

Levi's now a days are hit or miss, but the 514's in tumbled rigid are a nice pair of classic fitting blue jeans. They run true to size and hold up well to moderate abuse at work. My only gripe is that they fade pretty quickly (like 3 months). I'm 5' 11" and weigh 140lbs, the 29 x 32 fit perfect.

- R. FranklinOther jeans/trousers fit as expected, but this one was rather a size larger. It's a neat pair of dark jeans. Good for people over a certain age who do not fancy over the waist jeans.

These jeans are a god send for thicker men. They give us a chance at fashion. Some washes are stretch jeans and these are the ones you want if you are thicker and want that comfort. I do feel like the inseam in height was off by an inch or inch and half but they still look good and they weren't that expensive. The jeans stretch if you are an active person or just need that stretch ability, these are not like the stiff jeans i've had all my life. I will try to keep these jeans for as long as i can. Only execption is if i drop weight. I cant go back to regular store bought jeans after having these.

The F.A.Q. for Levi's Men's 505 Regular Fit Jean (220412)

I bought these just about exactly a year ago. I bought 4 pair and they have held up very well. They are good heavy denim. I know what lots of other reviewers are saying when they mention thin fabric in some versions of these. I bought a pair at costco after i bought these and there is such a huge difference. The denim used is about half the weight of the denim used in these that i bought on online store. They are almost like stretch fabric, very thin, very light. I got them at a good price at costco so i am not as critical as i probably should be. But there is a definite difference in the fabric of (it seems) newer versions of these jeans. . Update: just bought 4 more pairs of these and they are great. Solid heavy denim and well sewn and sized. I have absolutely no complaints about these and will probably buy more again in the next few years. Thanks!

My husband wears a hard to find size of 36 x 29. We were both thrilled not to just finally find these but how good of a fit they are. We chose the dark stonewash color as our daughter said it was an "in" color. We're still too jaded by the 80's and like the lighter colored jeans. We also went with her judgement on the regular fit as relaxed was also against our stylist view. My husband has never had jeans actually fit his body and these looked great, especially his bum! however, he did find the fit of crouch a bit tighter than he's used to with relax fit. Thankfully his family veg doesn't look like they were squished or worse. Of course, everything else about these jeans are standard knowledge. They're a pair you'll own for decades if cared for well and not worn for physical labor. A great buy and he'll probably were them til 20 years after they're in fashion. Don't throw them out when that happens. In 20 years they'll be back in style.

Quality seems fine but they sit a little lower than i was expecting. I've tried three different styles of pants and these seem to sit a little lower and feel a little looser in the waist than the other styles that claim to be the same waist size and sit at the same place on the waist. I don't know if it's just my body is weird or their descriptions are inconsistent (or have changed, since i'm comparing them to two different older styles). I'd definitely recommend buying from a seller that offers free returns in case they don't fit the way you expect.

I read several horrid online store reviews with production and size discrepancies with levis jeans. I almost chickened out from ordering and actually my husband has tried wrangler as a result of previous poor purchase results of levi jeans (short pockets, tight fit- not as expected). I am so glad i took a shot at this, because not only was the fit perfect, but the pockets were full length, not the short crappy pockets we had received in past month's purchases (and this was from department stores and from online store) . So after buying the initial trial pair, i have ordered more. Hoping the quality holds out for the next delivery. I will let you know.

P. Florence, Trafford

There were some negative reviews saying the levi's through online store were not as good quality, some stating thinner material. But i've bought several pair in the past few months and all fit the same, have good quality thick jean material, and are comfortable. Stitching is good and rivets are good.

G. Wimbish, Newcastle upon Tyne says

Never thought i would get out a tape measure and measure my new jeans but after reading some of the critical reviews, i had to comment. The 505 jeans just received are great. The measurements on the jeans i just received are as follows. Top of belt loop to inseam front : 12. 5 . Back: 16. 5 . Pocket depth, bottom of pocket to top of belt loop: 10. 5. Thickness and quality of material, just like my old 10+ years old pair. Don t think the negative reviews being posted on online store are genuine.

W. Finch, District of Columbia

This particular pair is just a bit larger than two other pairs that i have of the same jean, if they came in 1/2 sizes i'd say about a 1/2 size bigger. Nothing i can't live with though, and not the first time i've had size inconsistencies with levis. . The slight stretch in the waistband and in the seat/thigh area is great for everyday activity, and when i wear a regular pair of levis and do anything like climbing a ladder, or stooping down to hook up a hose to a pressure washer or anything similar i've really come to appreciate the stretch in the fabric. The color starts out as a dark blue/black and as they are washed it fades to a grayish/dark blue. Great for casual dress at work. I only wish that the initial dk blue/black color would last a little longer before fading. It's really a unique color and is one of the main reasons that i bought them.

O. Newell, Worcestershire says

Good jeans. Good fit, good leg length. No faults in the measurements. Fits like my other levi's jeans that used to buy several years ago. Regarding the material. I have read so many criticism about the material being lighter, less durable, shallow pockets. I really don't know where that came from. This jeans has the same material as my older ones (about 5-6 years ago), and the pockets are really deep, even deeper than my older ones (they were also 505s). The only point is that the pelvis area is somewhat wide. I note some extra material in the front beside the zipper on both sides, but that is a problem i am used to with all my levi's jeans (505, and even 501 with buttons). I just have to slim it from both sides a little bit as i am used to with all my levi's jeans. The waits is very good. The color is great, and overall this jeans is perfect.

. Rowe, Kingston upon Thames

I have been a fan of levi's 505 jeans for decades. I have tried other levi's jeans and products from other manufacturers over the years but i always seem to go back to my 505's. No other jeans that i have tried are as comfortable or fit better. I certainly understand that some customers are concerned about the quality of the goods made in third, fourth and fifth world countries. Levi's are no longer made in america and have not been for quite some time. I checked the tag on the pair i just received and discovered that they were made in lesotho. Lesotho? where in the world is that? according to wikipedia lesotho is a landlocked country in southern africa completely surrounded by south africa. Personally, i really don't care where my jeans are made so long as the quality remains consistent. . I tried on my new pair of 505 jeans just a few moments ago. I am happy to report that the size and cut is the same as it always has been. You will get no complaints from me here. Furthermore, the price was quite reasonable. I wear a size 40 x 29 and have had considerable difficulty finding this size in department stores. I am totally satisfied with my purchase and hope to be a happy levi's customer for many years to come. Levi's 505 jeans continue to be a terrific product that i am more than happy to recommend.

D. Adrienne, South Gloucestershire says

I bought a pair each of regular fit, straight leg, zipper fly levi's, lee, and wrangler jeans. The levi's(505) were $40, the lee's $32, and the wrangler's $20. I washed all of them once, in cold water. They all fit about the same. The construction seems to be about the same too. All had 5 belt loops and reinforced the same points. They all were about the same weight denin. One difference i could find was that the levi's had two rivets on the coin pocket while the lee's and wranglers had one rivet there and sewed the other side of the coin pocket into the main pocket seam. Also, the levi's print your jean size on the outside label, while the lee's and wranglers do not. Both the levi's and lee have a double stitched external inseam on the inside of the legs and a concealed inseam on the outside of the legs. The wranglers reversed this with the concealed inseam on the inside and a double stitched seam on the outside. The length of the inseam, compared to the advertised length, was pretty close, with the lee's being the longest, and the wranglers the shortest. . I would say the levi's were good jeans, but were they worth the price difference? . . Overall, i would say they all three pairs look like they will be fine over the longer term. So perhaps the price difference and your preference for brands might be the deciding factor.

Q. Monique, Brighton and Hove

As a person who likes consistency, it's always good to know you can count on levis to deliver the same fit for the same model over time. I've been buying 505s from the first time i tried them on and liked the fit, which was many many years ago, and other than the occasional and unfortunate increase of waistline size, they always fit perfectly with no surprises. This is one of the few items of clothing i feel confident buying online, as i know it'll be the same as i always had in the past. Plus, they last a really long time, very reliable.

X. Anonymous, Coventry says

What's not to like? these are as straightforward a jean as it comes. As far as i'm concerned, these are the perfect pair of jeans. . When i recently tried to find a pair of jeans, i was shocked at all the options for men. Options that i frankly don't care about. Slim-fit, low-rise, boot-cut, distressed. At least i understand boot-cut. I just want a regular pair of jeans, is that so hard to find? not when "regular" is right in the name of the product. Enough room in the seat, legs, and crotch to move around and do manly things like swing an axe, hike a trail, or help train a horse (all things i've actually done in these jeans). But they aren't so baggy that they look sloppy, and unprofessional in a more business casual environment when dressed up with dress shoes and a dress shirt (which i've also done with these jeans). They sit at the right spot on the waist, not too low, not too high. As i said, the perfect jean.

Z. Sally, Rochdale

Wow! finally! perfect real levi's blue jeans. I am taking my time to write this, for online store customers. You know, when you order jeans on line they are not as good as it used to be like 10-20 years ago, but guess the levi's company they finally fixed it :) this the same jeans are like it use to be; this is the real mccoy, they are heavy/normal thickness of cotton material. I mean i wish i bought a couple more. I think i'm gonna buy more. Levi's must have an quality control there. You will not be sorry, this is really authentic old school levi's blue jeans. It goes up to your waist, comfortable. I hate the jeans sits on your hip. This one goes up higher, like old regular style. . Well, i didn't want to take a chance, and i bought 2 more. Now, i have 3 authentic levi's jeans :) these jeans are made in losetho south africa. And they are doing a great job, levi's must have an quality control here. Jeans really look like the original levi's i use to buy 20-25 years ago. All other places makes levi's jeans are not as good as this.

K. Perez, Reading says

Bought for my elderly retired cowboy / oil exec dad. These jeans are all that he will wear, forget the new low riser thin "sissy" pants. Kind of goes with the philosophy that he always told me that real men always have a pocket knife, and not to date anyone that didn't . . Although they are a lighter weight than the levis 505 i usually buy at the department store, dad likes them. With no shipping charges much easier to shop online, was happily surprised to find them on online store. Hopefully they hold up well.

M. Meghan, Hounslow says

I messed up and left the online store page where i was ordering the jeans from. To do some more shopping. After coming back to the page, i had not noticed that the size that i had chosen had changed and i ordered very small jeans (i couldn't get them up nearly far enough). After returning them (unbelievably easy to do) and reordering the correct size (i still can't believe that they were sent before i had returned the first pair), i received them very quickly and they fit wonderfully. I am now getting ready to order a couple more pairs of jeans since i know that they fit properly. I still can't believe that i am purchasing clothing on the internet (this is where i would add a smiley face).

J. Nees, Alabama

This was a very convenient way to buy levis. Like most people, i knew what size and color i wanted. It was nice to not have to dig through a pile of jeans to find my size or go to the store to find that they didn't have the color i wanted. The price was about as good as the lowest price i have seen levis on sale for and was considerably lower than what i could find in local department stores where the jeans were not on sale and were selling for full price.

S. Cathy, Torbay says

Bought these for husband who has been wearing levi's for almost 50 years. For some unknown reason, i never thought even about checking online store for levi's. I always went to macy's to get them. I could have saved a lot of money over the years. After checking online store, i checked the levi's website to find that online store has just as many styles and colors as the levi's site. When i opened the package, the first thing i noticed was the red tag on the right back pocket. It is where it should be, but all it has on it is an r with a circle around it. I sent online store an email asking them if they knew anything about this as i'd never seen this in all of the years that my husband and i have been wearing them. I did doubt the authenticity just a wee bit, but do know that online store doesn't sell anything that isn't authentic. At any rate, online store sent me a reply reassuring me that they were authentic and didn't know why the red tag only had the r with the circle around it and suggested i contact levi's and ask them. I had a chat with levi's who first told me that this was absolutely normal and is a way of protecting their copyright. She then said, "you consider yourself lucky". She and many other family friends have been wearing them for years and she has never even seen this it. When i gave them to my husband, i also had a story to tell. I think this is pretty cool! so, if this happens to you, now you know why. If this info helps, please check the box. Thanks so much!

. Kellie, Mississippi

I hadn't bought a pair of jeans in probably 3 years or more and needed to replace a pair of my older 505's that had finally started to wear out. The quality of denim on these is very good, nice and thick. Because of the thickness they are a little stiff to begin with but after a few washes and wears they soften up pretty good. Size wise around the waist and leg length they fit fine, although through the crotch area they are little on the snug side until they stretch out some. The one odd thing i have noticed is the pockets on these are just a tad smaller than my old jeans. I carry my 5. 5" screen smart phone in my right pocket and in my older 505's it fits just fine with a slim case on it, but on this pair with the case on my phone it's too big and will slightly stick out the top of the pocket. I can take the case off though and it just barely fits then. Overall though i'm pretty happy with these and will likely purchase more pairs in the future as my older pairs wear out.

H. Meyer, New South Wales says

Bought these for my hubby who has worn levi's jeans forever and these aren't any different than the ones i've bought at local department stores. The main reason i got these here is because, as much as i want to support local businesses and jobs, if a store doesn't carry what i need i look elsewhere. Free shipping with my prime account makes it really hard for me to go fight traffic, find parking and pay a higher price at local stores. Jeans fit great, hubby is happy, i saved money and didn't have to leave my comfy chair. Win!

C. McCarthy, Barnsley

These jeans feel and fit perfect. I am 6'5 and 210. And i usually wear a 34/35 waist and 34-36 length, and these fit right in between and i bought another pair of blue and they fit just the same. I am really happy. They are tough and stretch a bit and don't get all out of shape after a day or 2 or 3 or 4 days i wore them for work. Not in a row but 4 days before i washed them.

U. Guest, Oklahoma says

I haven't bought new jeans in over eight years and could find only one pair in the town i live and they were close outs so they wouldn't stock any more. I have always liked the 505's but they are never in my size around here and now they don't carry them anymore. I was kinda afraid to buy online without being able to try them on due to some negative reviews but they are exactly the same size the ones i bought in town are and i am very happy with them

A. Pete, Tasmania

Purchased levi men's 505 regular fit jean, light stonewash, 31x32. . My husband is a farmer and he requires well made jeans. I ignored the bad comments and went on ahead and ordered 3 pairs of these jeans. I am glad that i did. They fit great, they look great and they are sewn to perfection. . We plan to buy more when the time is needed.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

. Lisa, Australian Capital Territory says

Not as advertised. The comparison picture in the previous review is exactly my situation. Material is much darker and stretchy. Also includes a tag indicating that its a stretch-denim. These are still being advertised as regular jeans.

J. Wanda, Wyoming

Like many other reviewers, i'd been purchasing the same style/size/color for many years and have been satisfied with consistency. I've now purchased three separate pairs of 505s, all of which have felt of different denim quality and all sized differently. It appears these are now constructed for a skinnier body type yet they're billed as sitting at waist/extra room in thigh. I'd appreciate either an update to the description or the old cut of the 505 as they are what made me so loyal to the brand, yet now i am undecided.

D. Josephine, Tameside says

The current "crop" of levi's are all over the map, as far as consistency of size goes. This will be my third pair of levi's in the past several months and this pair is going back, as i am "swimming" in these pants! granted, these are 505 jeans and my other two pair are 513, however, the waist on the 505's seems to be a 40 or 42 instead of the 38 ordered (and no, i have not lost "waist", much to my chagrin). The 513's fit correctly, as far as the waist goes, however with those jeans, one fits skin tight on my thighs, and the other fits correctly. So the 505's will be returned and i will no longer be a levi's customer.

Y. Reed, Sefton

I don't know what happened to levi's but they aren't levi's anymore. I have no idea what kind of material these jeans are made of but it does not even resemble the denim used in levi's of past years. It is thin and almost crackles when you walk. Sorry stuff. I had to order jeans with zippers for the first time because my arthritis makes it very difficult to do the levi buttons anymore. Big mistake. I'll find something else to wear in the future these are probably my last levi's and i've been wearing them for over 60 years.

K. Adrienne, Brighton and Hove says

While other aspects of the fit are fine, one dimension that i would never expect to be an issue is the distance between the two front belt loops. Unfortunately, levis has reduced this dimension to the point where some belts with loop and buckle simply don't fit properly. On previous versions of this same levi cut there were anywhere from 4. 25 to 5+ inches of space. Now you are lucky if you get 3. 5 inches. Levis customer service has stated that the official distance is now 3 to 3. 5 inches. It don't know why they made this change, but they should list it on their website along with other dimensions.

. Emily, Virginia

I guess "stretch" denim is the new norm for levi's jeans. They are fine for the new kids, but not to my liking as classic levi's.

Z. Matherly, Oldham says

I have worn 505's as long as levi strauss has produced them. This time, i did not notice, but with every washing, the right pants leg curled farther around my leg until the seam is now in front instead of at the side. I only wore and washed them three times, but it was over a period of two months, not one month. So, my guaranteed return on this defective pair of levis had expired. Guess i will have to look at my lower legs more often. . Levi's men's 505 regular fit jean, dark stonewash, 33x32

B. Weber, Ile-de-France

Wtf levi's, wtf. I've bought and worn 505s for decades and have always been more than satisfied. I received these and right away noticed something wrong. They didn't feel right. Upon putting a pair on, as someone else posted, it felt like i was wearing light khakis. Not not ll bean's khakis either, khakis from target. I checked the labels of these 505s with my previous purchase and they were made in the same factory. Whereas previous pairs of 505s were typically 12-14 oz. Denim these felt more like 6-8 oz. After a bit of research i'm not the only one that has come to this conclusion. And why the hell did levi's lower the waistband? . After a bit more research i found that wangler still males a lot of there jeans with 12-14 oz. Denim. Bought some, love them. Goodby levi's, hello wangler. . Update. I bought some 505s direct from levi's and they are everything i expected. The only conclusion i can come to is the pairs i bought from online store were, counterfeit.

C. Nees, Nord-Pas-de-Calais says

On the red leib on the pocket is not a word levi's, but only mark r. On the inside of the pockets are no inscriptions. This is the second pair 505, the first one was perfect, but it does not sit well and too small. I am very disappointed.

V. Wilson, Tennessee

Update: i have reduced this from two stars to one star. On the second wash one of the rivets on the watch pocket fell off. I have never had a rivet fall off of a pair of levis until now. The seller was "sold by: online store. Com llc". . I would not buy these levis. . Original review: these are made in egypt and the quality is not what i am used to from levis. The bottom of one front pocket was folded up and sewn to the side seam making the pocket unuseable until i cut it free. Size is also cut differently from the same jeans made a few years ago in mexico. These appear to be a bit longer and fuller.

. Isabel, Cumbria says

Poor craftsmanship. Would have fit okay (a second pair of 505's in a different color fit as expected) except the metal waist button was sewn 7/8" farther from the edge than the pair that fit. Additionally, the button hole is approximately 1/8" farther back. The combination makes the wearable waist size a full inch smaller that the size labeling indicates (which is shown in 3 different places). And because the "button" is actually a rivet, its not easy to move. Additionally, the shipping container did not include the usual packing slip which typically provides return merchandise info. . I should have learned long ago not to buy jeans without trying them on.  levi's men's 505 regular fit jeanthe size labels are a guide, not an accurate statement of the fit.

L. Meyer, Havering

Bought the scooter grey levi's 505 regular fit jeans, figuring i'd get jeans. I guess i didn't realize that "denim jeans" now means "mostly stretchy spandex with a little denim thrown in", because that's exactly what they are. Nowhere in the online store description for these "jeans" does it say these are stretch or spandex, but that's exactly what they are. The grey version, at least, is a lightweight, stretchy, elastic material. There's even a hang tag on the jeans that promotes this as a feature - and it would be, had they been for my wife. Not sure if men nowadays are into wearing stretchy yoga pants, but i most certainly am not, so these are going straight back to online store. I purchased a pair of lee regular fit battleship grey jeans as a replacement - and low and behold, i actually got jeans! good, old fashioned jeans made out of thick, non-stretchy denim. . As a side note, i also bought the medium chipped version of the 505s, and they were in fact regular denim. No yoga pants material. They were still quite thin, though, as levi's seeks to cut cost and deliver sub-par quality. Instead of buying a pair of jeans, wearing them for years and getting a great worn-in look - now you buy a pair of lightweight poor quality jeans that already look worn-in and you replace them every year. . Ug. What a disappointment.

S. Noguera, South Carolina says

What ever happened to quality levi s jeans? the current jeans are made in china. The pockets shallow and at a weird angle and are not as deep the material in thinner and cheaper . Ordered 34x31 these have to be at least 36x 34 doesn't seem to be a problem with black or white 501 s but regular 505 blue jeans from levi are really cheap and suck all the way around no more quality from this company

O. McCarthy, Middlesbrough

I am returning these levi's. My husband has worn regular fit 505's, 33x32, for at least 30 years, however we've never bought them online until this pair. What a disappointment these new ones are! i ordered his regular size, yet he couldn't even button them, and he has not gained any weight or inches in his waist. I measured these against two pairs of 505's that he has had about 2 years (bought at a retail store), and these new ones are a joke. The waist is 1" smaller, the rise is 1/2" shorter, and the zipper itself is almost an inch shorter, which makes a huge difference when you are trying to put a pair of pants on. The color and length are correct, the levi waist label looks correct, but i noticed that the trademark stitching on the back pockets are stitched in light blue, however the rest of the stitching on the jeans is the correct orange/yellow color, which i think is weird. All of his other 505's rear pocket stitching are stitched in the orange/yellow to match the rest of the jean. So back these go, and i don't think we will buy levi's online again.

R. Dorothy, Richmond upon Thames says

I don't know if it is my husband or what but i ordered several pairs of these. 3 pairs got a huge rip next to the back pockets. Haven't had the problem from the ones we purchased from jcpenny's so not sure what the deal is. He is rough on things but never had this happen before. This is the only cut and color my husband will wear and they were hardly worn before they were ripped so badly he had to throw them away. Maybe just get them from the store.

H. Gina, Warwickshire

I have purchased these jeans 4 times, the first 3 pairs were purchased at a levis store, and were the exact same jeans, fit, style and everything except that i chose 3 different "washes" (colors) and then this one purchased from online store was the 4th time purchasing these, though it was the same wash as one of the others i had bought before. Now the issue is this: all 4 of these jeans i have purchased have fit and warn very differently from each other. 2 of the 3 i purchased in store this spring were the perfect length (they were all supposed to be 38/29) where the third one dragged on the floor a lot and i had to take it to get hemmed. This pair from online store was the longest of all 3 and i can fold up a few inches and they still touch the floor. 2 of the previous pairs shunk majorly after the first wash and ended up being like skinny jeans, thile the third and the online store pair have stayed loose and baggy, and again the online store ones are the most loose and baggy of the 4. I think i may be switching brands as these are just too inconsistent.

. Gladys, Portsmouth says

Horrible quality, came undone after a month of being received. I have used levi's my whole life and this is the first time something like this happens.

. Erin, Iowa

I purchased three pair of levi's 505 jeans and, like other reviewers, i am disappointed in the quality. I have other pairs of 505 jeans from other retailers that were bought only a few years ago that have a significantly different feel, if not fit. The pair pictured (skunk train) now has some minor but obvious damage to the denim after the first washing and the other two pair feel thin, as if the quality of the denim has degraded from prior jeans. . Researching counterfeit levi's there are three telltale signs that supposedly mark these as fake:. . 1) the rear label on the "skunk train" style is black with silver/white lettering, not the usual orange with red lettering. 2) the zipper is cheap and not marked either ykk or levi's. 3) the labels for all three pair is missing "trade mark" and is written in a different font than normal. . I will be contacting levi strauss & co. Tomorrow to check whether their manufacturing has cheapened or if these are actually fakes.

Unfortunately, the quality you used to expect from levi's no longer exists. Like nearly everything that was once american, levi's are made in china and the quality control is suspect. I have ordered 6 pairs total of these jeans over the last couple of years and have had to send 3 of them back. One pair the first time i wore them and put my wallet in the back pocket, the pocket just ripped right out. Very poorly stitched. The next pair were just simply not the correct size. They were too tight in the waist despite showing the correct size on the label. This last pair i sent back had legs that were too long, but beyond that, the legs were far too big around! they were like these weird balloon pant legs. I give up buying these online. The quality control is just awful. A real shame too since i've worn levis for 40 years.

These jeans have a fabric twist in one leg that is worse than the other. The side seams do not hang straight. When sitting the right side seam runs over my knee. The left side is only slightly better. The photos show a natural sitting position; i did not enhance the seam location to make a point. This is literally how they fit. I will have to try to return them. I would definitely not recommend these.

This particular version of the 505 has some stretchy material. I didn't realize this when i purchased it. Given my experience to date, i wouldn't purchase jeans with this material mix again. The feel of the denim, isn't quite denim. The wear of this materials is that it starts the day feeling snug and fitting well. By mid-day, i find myself having to tug and adjust these at the knees and waist (as these seem to sag after a bit). In general, the material seems to bunch in small, odd and annoying ways. . So if this the type of material you are wanting and it works for you, go for it. If you are expecting a more traditional denim feel and wear, move along.

I've never ordered jeans online before - but i thought this would be really easy. That's 'cause i've worn levi's 505 jeans, size 36x30 for several years and no matter where i've bought them, they all fitted the same. This time, however, they were far too large. Can't really figure out how that happened 'cause the label (like the labels in my other jeans) says, levi's 505, 36x30. They were "wearable" (meaning they didn't look "horrible" just too long and baggy) so i didn't bother to return them and hoped after they were washed, they'd shrink a bit. (they didn't) yeah, i could've returned them but it would have been too much of a hassle. I'd recommend buying this product at a store where you can try them on. 'fact is, when i have bought these "same" jeans at a store, i never tried them on 'cause i've always assumed that "36x30" would always mean "36x30" and except for this online purchase, it always has.

My husband has worn levi's 505 regular fit jeans for longer than i can recall, they are his work jeans, he works construction. I always buy the dark ones thinking that they have been messed with the least so they will hopefully last longer than the ones that have been destructed/prewashed, etc, i have no idea wth happened to levis recently , but these are not the levi's of the past! the fabric doesn't even feel like denim, my husband says they feel like "pajama bottoms" and are thin, definitely thinner than levi's of the past. I looked at the labels (i ordered 5 pairs) and they were all made in haiti, not sure if that matters or not, but they most definitely aren't what we expected. We will keep them, but i don't hold out a lot of hope that these will last for long. I will update this review once he has worn them awhile to comment further on how long these hold up.

I'm a simple man. I like well-made stuff that lasts forever. I don't care where it comes from, and i'll spend for perfection. I like classic, rugged things that respect a legacy of craftsmanship, rather than dance for the flighty whim of style. Always thought the 505s and 501s were that, 'sfar as jeans went, but i'm learning i'm wrong, or more likely, something's changed. . First, i can't wrap my head around the colors. Classic blue with yellow stitches looks as good as ever, but be real careful you don't end up with crotch whiskers or whatever they're called. You might also get food coloring grass stains. These are earned defects in a good pair of jeans, not borrowed from the labor of another. I had a pair of old 501s that ended up looking like today's super hip fakies after i'd worn them for a decade and aged them to perfection, but today they'd look like i grabbed them off the shelf that way. This leads me to quality. I'm in my third pair of 505's in as many years, and am here on online store reviewing them because this morning, i noticed a hole in the crotch. Yes, i'm hard on jeans, but, well, they're jeans. I don't wear them just to look awesome, that's a passive benefit. I wear them to protect everything from my flesh to my sensibilities, and i have to say i'm dismayed that the only way to get a perfectly aged set of denim these days is to buy them that way, for they'll fall apart long before you have a say in it. . So let's talk fit and style. I'm a jeans guy. 32x32. It's almost a cliche. I like jeans i can pair with cowboy boots, lace ups, oxfords, and sneakers, topped with everything from button-downs to tee shirts, and the 501's and 505's both fit the bill, but it's the subtle misses that bug me. Like, why only five belt loops? seven would do a much better job of keeping your jeans in place without stressing your belt or the form of the jeans waist. Speaking of waist, why on earth do these sit where they do? if you're a man with neither a belly nor a greased six-pack, the waist is ridiculous. I want it just at my waist, above my hips, because, imagine this, i do more in jeans than stand. I sit, from bike seats to barstools and on all sorts of other things. I kneel. Sometimes i'm even lying down or doing some weird halfsie position, and i don't need my belt digging into my stomach or my shirt coming untucked or the back dipping down to show the world my johnnies. All these problems are solved with a slightly higher waist. . Look, i know the kids like what they like -nifty tears and low rises and fits best for slouching- and bully for them. For your classic, western styled man -and i don't mean western like bolo ties, but more like americana; boots and jeans and leather- these are no longer the ubiquitous solution they once were. Bottom line, they're fine for style, but for lifestyle? that's a negative, good buddy. I'll keep an eye out for a new model. Maybe as trends go back to the old school, levi's will make a jean more fit for me. Wish they'd stick with it regardless of what the fashion is. Introduce new jeans and new numbers but keep your classics classic. Until then, i'm on the scout for a new jean. . Update: unable to find another jean and needing a new pair badly for an upcoming event, i bought my old standby, but got a different color; "range", whatever that means. These are made in lesotho. It's in africa, before you ask. I know because i had to look it up. They fit unlike any other levi's i have ever nor currently own. They are basically "skinny" through the thigh, slightly flared at the leg, and the seat is basically too tight to sit in. Same 32x32 i always buy and still wear, same 505s, and completely, utterly a different jean. What on earth is with levi's? quality control is gone, attention to detail, gone. I should have listened to myself and skipped them. I'll return them and continue my hunt for an acceptable replacement. Am i alone in thinking that i'd rather pay twice and get a better jean?

I have another jean of the same size and the last one who sent me is much smaller. Narrowest waist of an inch less and length to crotch nearly 2 inches shorter. Impossible to use. Can see in the photos.

Do not buy these jeans. I bought two pair and even though they fit well, both pair split at the back left pocket. I am neither overweight nor do i sit on nails each day. There is obviously a defect in the stitching. Which makes me wonder where these are made. I can guarantee you they are not made in the usa by levi's. I am really disappointed in online store over the sale of goods that are knockoffs. Btw - i will be complaining to online store, getting a refund, and buying my clothes directly from the manufacturer.

F. Fabian, Bolton says

Do not buy these jeans unless you like to have your zipper open the entire time you wear them! . Sorry for the caps, but wanted to emphasize, that the zipper on these constantly fall down. I missed my window to return them. But i just spent an entire day wearing them, and had to zip up like maybe 60 times. Yeah like 20 times an hour. No matter how many times i brought the tray to the upright and locked position, within minutes they go down again. The waste fits fine. They just drop down. What a really really defective and bad product. Do not buy. You have been warned. Unless you like to look like a massive dork with your barndoor open, unless you like having windows open on your laptop, do not buy these jeans.

I'm finished ordering levis 505. I have bought many orders of the exact same jean - 42 x 32 505 medium stonewash. This last order came with 2 pair of 505's 42 x 32 medium stonewash, and the levis label was as such. But crap, try to put them on. Both pair were significantly undersized, one pair i could not even button together. Now, i get the privilege of reboxing them, driving across town to ups (or sit by the door at home all day waiting for a pickup, yea right) and sending them back. This is so disappointing, i have come to rely on getting these jeans from online store. They always have them in stock, ship them quickly and i avoid going to the mall and hunting for my big-butt size. No more, once i get burned, all the convenience just goes out the window. Do i sound happy? no.

Add me to the list of folks giving 1 star to what was a 5 star product, and i'll be returning these. The denim and construction are as good as ever, the fit is not as comfy but probably acceptable, belt loops also a step in the wrong direction - but inch and a half shorter pockets? are you mad? jeans are supposed to be practical, and decent pockets for guys to carry stuff in has always been part of that. In particular, i've always kept my phone in a front pocket, since i don't like cracked screens, and my regular (not plus) iphone 6 just barely fits now. Phones are getting bigger, not smaller, and i don't think i'm unusual in not carrying my phone in a back pocket. . Levi's, if you're listening - i have literally never bought another brand of jeans since the late 60's - and that was growing up in ireland where they were harder to find and a bit pricy. I intend to see if i can find one of your styles that is close to the 505 but with proper pockets, if not i guess i'll break down and try another brand. And let me know if you intend to revisit this 505 redesign and right the wrongs.
