Review for /carhartt mens rugged cargo relaxed

Price was 31. These are among the best cargo pants i have purchased except for one thing (the reason for only 4 stars): the wear around the corners of the pockets is excessive and the material gave way after two years of occasional use. However, i still like them so i bought another pair. This review is on the pair that i bought in 2014. They appear to be exactly the same pants. The material used seems sturdy except for the corners of the pockets. Recommend.

Carhartt always offers great clothing. This pair of cargo pants is not an exception. I'm 6'4" weighing in at 250 lbs. The 42x34 size fits nicely with about an inch to spare in the waist. I particularly like the roomy pockets secured with a snap (and not hook-and-loop). The weight of the material seems just right - about the weight of levi denims. Two washings so far without any problems. Definitely recommend these pants. Carhartt Men's Rugged Cargo Pant In Relaxed Fit Review (bhbusazin025157)

These are the best cargo pants i have ever worn. Others had indicated that they run small in the waist so i did order the next size up. Glad i did because these are perfect. The leg length was spot on. These are great for working around the house and are very comfortable for lounging around on a cool fall afternoon. I am very please with them so far. -S. Reed

  • I've purchased about six pairs of these over the past 12 months and i really like them. They are a relaxed fit, which means they sit a little lower on the waist than the normal carhartt cut. The fabric is medium weight and good for three season use. They seem to last about a year with heavy outdoor use and weekly washing.
  • These did fit, unlike the 36 i ordered previously that were too small. These pants are very comfortable, loose fitting for guys who don't have a bony butt and pencil legs. They're also great for concealed carry with the large cargo pockets. The cloth is not flimsy, it's hefty. That can be a bit too hot for miami weather right now but it's a minor detail.
  • A few weeks ago i bought two pair of carhartt blue jeans 30x30 fit perfect. I bought one pair of carhartt cargo pants 30x30 put them on and they felt tight, and too short. I thought maybe they would stretch out so i took the tags off. I wore them for a few hours, and no give. I haven't washed them, but i'm probably stuck with them. No tags. Looks like cargo pants size run smaller than blue jeans.
  • The cargo pants aren't nearly as tough as i'd expect. The weak spot is where the cargo pockets attach to the pant leg. If you catch the pocket on something, even on office chair that can move, you'll likely rip a hole in them, the pocket will tear right of the pants at the upper corner. The rest of the pants have lots of life left after being worn only a few months, but they are not worth the price.
  • I'm not sure about the quality of this product. Consoder paying the extra bucks from other brand's product before buying this one. Also, this is one of those pants that for some reason fit tighter than other brands even though they are supposed to be the same size.

Five stars for the look, comfort, snap pockets, and durability. Minus 1 for fit. I'm 40 y/o, 5'10", 210lb white male with a 36" waist. I'm athletically built with a beginner's gut, so you can get an idea of the fit you might have. To start i really like the color and the fact that the stitching is a little darker than the material. I think it looks cool. Had to return because the it fits like a 34, however has the correct length. So i ordered an exchange for a 38 just because i really liked the fit. The 38 fit like a 36, so good- right? not so much, now the 32 length is longer, so if you are a 36x32, order a 38x30. I hope that helps.

Click to see NoticeCarhartt Men's Rugged Cargo Pant In Relaxed Fit (bhbusazin025157)"Decent pants. They appear to be constructed well. I've not worn them enough to really give an accurate review. They seem like they may hold up for a decent amount of time. Perhaps not as long as the standard heavy carhartt duck canvas; but these are more casual than strictly 'workwear'. They fit me fine, true to size as to the date of this review. . *update*. For carhartt pants they are surprisingly good. Almost all my carhartt stuff falls apart after 6 months, and these have actually held up with near-daily usage. One of the redeeming qualities about this style of pant is that it uses snaps instead of the cheap velcro. Velcro wears out way to quick, and it's a very cheap alternative which almost all comapnies have taken to in order to cut costs and still charge premium prices. The only let down on these pants is that if you wear them in the rain, they will soak up water like a sponge and they take forever to dry; so you'll be soaked in them. Also they are not very good in the warmer weather either. They are still a bit too heavy and don't breathe well; however, they're not as heavy as the traditional duck material on the standard carhartt pants. Either way, they are definitely worth the price point, and as long as carhartt maintains the quality control on these, and quits making their products cheaper and cheaper every year, then these are a good decent pair of canvas pants for general purpose work, and casual wear."

Carhartt Men's Cotton Ripstop Relaxed Fit Work Pant

Snaps for main cargo pockets jingle as you walk, kinda annoying but i that happens with every snap-based pocket system i've tried. . More space in front pockets than my last pair of ripstops, but not too much that they snag on handles or anything. . Wish the mallet loop was on the other side, bigger than it needs to be. . Back pockets are too flat to use with large wallet. . Material isn't as scratchy as the last pair i ordered either.

Carhartt Men's Cotton Ripstop Relaxed Fit Work Pant (53553) FAQ.

Relaxed fit isn't what they are but carhartt quality shines through. These trousers feel well built. The seams are tight, the snaps click perfectly, and coworkers have asked me, "have you lost weight? ". I will definately be a repeat customer. -Notice from X. Wade, North Dakota

Exceptional product from carhartt! i purchased these pants for work and needed something durable and comfortable. The pockets are roomy and actually usable for tools, my cell phone and are located in ergonomic places. I will definitely be ordering more of these pants. I am 6'8" and weigh 240lbs. The 36 x 36 were exactly the right fit and these are getting more comfortable with each wash.

- Q. PalmerWell forget about them ripping! theres a little too much going on with the pockets and all. If they kept them like basic cargo pants that would be great. Still a quality pair of pants ! they went crazy with the anti rip

These are by far the most tough and versatile work pants i've ever owned. I'm a professional brewer and a lot of my job involves climbing behind and on top of tanks and keeping three or four tools on my person at all times. These have just the right number and size of pockets that keep your tools and most importantly - your knife - incredibly accessible. I ripped a small hole in the seat of my first pair two days after i got them. If these were normal work pants, they probably would have ripped all the way down the leg, but because of the ripstop, i was able to use them for two more days before i even noticed the hole. On top of being highly versatile, they are much more flattering than the typical carhartt double front dungarees i used to wear. I always felt like i was swimming in those, but these are cut much better and i don't feel like an idiot wearing them. I highly recommend these to anyone who uses multiple tools and needs easy access to them without the hassle of wearing a tool belt.

The hubs loves them. Heavier weight will make them more durable and warmer for winter work. His only complaint is that some times the inseams seem a little longer in one style than the other making the crotch tight :)

Carhartt Men's Loose Fit Five Pocket Canvas Carpenter Pant B159

I already had a pair of these from a year ago and the new pair is a bit different. The side pocket is a little bigger and they fit a bit tighter around the waste than my original pair did (and no i didn't gain weight). Great pair of pants tho.

Work days are more comfortable in our loose-fit canvas carpenter jean. Made of 8. 5-ounce, 100% rung-spun cotton canvas, it features a loose-fitting seat and thigh, and sits slightly below the natural waist. The jean includes two hammer loops as well as a cell phone pocket and utility pocket. Measuring 19-inches, the leg opening fits over work boots.

Very comfortable work pants with quality stitching and deep pockets. Are a great pant for the summer since they are a thinner, cooler material than regular blue jeans. Also the lighter color material doesn't get as hot in the sun and makes it easier to find crawling ticks.

- I. GarnerThe right fit for the job. Somewhat thinner than other duck pants but very good quality. Comfortable to walk around in.

The pants are unbelievably durable, yet lightweight and somewhat stylish. Great for different uses and different climates. The side pockets on carpenter pants are very useful, without the pockets sticking out like cargo pants. . I'm docking one star because the sizes are all wrong. I have size 36 waist pants from other brands, that are a looser fit than the 2 pairs of size 40 carhartt pants i bought. Size 40 fits fine, but carhartt's "36" would have been impossible for me to wear. The company should really look into correcting their measurements. Just a head's up.

Wrangler Authentics Men's Premium Relaxed Fit Straight Leg Cargo Pant

Personally, the pockets annoy me. I guess that's partly my fault for not looking better at the picture. I bought them for work to keep a handheld computer in one pocket, and my pens, and things like that in the other. The handheld computer fits just fine in the one (although it does stick out more than i would like), but the pens and similar thing have to lay on their side. Not my personal preference, but not a deal-breaker. I have other wrangler cargos (as well as a brand that i won't mention that i like better) and i like them all more than this particular line.

I'm always kind of thrown off when cargo pants have multiple oddly sized pockets on each thigh, but hey, gives me more options for storing my stuff. The two smaller pockets on the left side are just big enough for a pack of cigarettes. The bottom pouch can fit a large phone or small tablet. The top pocket on the right side is good for pens, pencils, and small rulers. I kind of love these pants.

- Q. RossWorks exactly as one might expect, and the sizing seems pretty true. The small pockets in place of the large cargo pocket on the one leg are somewhat useless, but i don't really use the cargo pockets anyhow.

Got these pants for my son. According to him, the pants are comfortable and have plenty of pockets. He would ve preferred zippers on the pockets, but the velcro is doing a fine job. The pants look great on him! they re a perfect fit for his slender frame. He said that when they wear out, he d like another pair!

The F.A.Q. for Carhartt Men's Rugged Cargo Pant In Relaxed Fit (bhbusazin025157)

These are amazing pants but don't buy into the reviews. Many say these pants are a size too small in the waist but this is not true. It's tricky buying quality clothes online and we often rely on reviews but in this case just disregard any review of this nature. These pants will fit your size just fine. I listened to the reviews and ordered my first two pairs with a size bigger in the waistline. Turns out they were too big and would bind under my belt. But even with pants too large i knew i found a serious quality pant. They are rugged and well made. All pockets button close and they are perfect for the outdoors. I use them on hiking trips and i love them! i've since bought the appropriate size and they are perfection! get several pairs!

I bought these pants for hiking and in general they're solid pants. They've got lots of room in the cargo areas to hold whatever you might need. . I found the material to be comfortable and durable on a 5 mile rough terrain hike in sedona az. . The areas that these were modestly deficient were in general fit. I read a lot of reviews that said these fit small, so i ordered one size up. The pants ended up being too large by only a little bit, which means that ordering at the right side would have likely resulted in tight waisted pants, but one side up is too big. That's kind of a bummer, but nothing a decent belt doesn't fix. . The other knock i have is purely cosmetic. These pants are super relaxed fit. I'm not looking for skinny jeans, but the pant legs were pretty large and looked like pants my dad would wear. For that matter, these are pants my dad would wear. . Would definitely say these are solid pants for hiking or camping, but i'm not wearing them anywhere else

Great pants, just know your size vs their sizes. The waist is small, the length is long. For example, i normally wear 36x34, i ordered 38x34, the waist is perfect, (i already knew carthartt to run small in the waist) the legs are a bit on the long side, in the future i will order 38x32 .

Other than running a little large in the waist and inseam, which isn't that big of a problem given they are knock-around gear, these seem well constructed and durable. If you're prissy about your clothing, order a couple pair around the size you think you are and return the ones that don't set off your figure just so.

F. Barbara, Northumberland

I love these pants and might just start buying these for everything. Nice enough to wear with a polo shirt or a sweater for business casual, and tough enough for labor and yard work (within reason. These aren't super-thick duck canvas coveralls that you'd wear at the mill all day long). . I'd definitely order a size larger in the waist. If you normally wear a 38, then a 40 should fit well and be comfortable. I feel that the length is pretty standard. . The "relaxed" cut gives you freedom to move without being too baggy. A nice, visually appealing texture and general "look" to these pants, with cargo pockets that are large enough to be functional. . I'm not a "clothes" guy, and having to try on clothing really bothers me. I love these pants, and they might be my new "go to" cut/style.

B. Linda, Midi-Pyrenees says

I wanted to give these pants 5 stars but they are 4 at best. Like all my other carhartt pants, this 30 waist is really a 29. The zipper is a bit odd too because when it is fully open, it is still a bit difficult to pull the pants over my hips. It's as if the zipper should have gone down an inch lower. But after putting them on, the fit is great. The big disappointment is the fabric. It is tough as heck and i am sure it will last a very long time, but it is very wrinkly. And since the fabric is so sturdy, it is very difficult to press out the wrinkles with a conventional home iron.

G. Anonymous, Louisiana

Quality is what i'd expect from carhartt but tighter in the waist and crotch than my other 38's and if this is a relaxed fit there's no way i could wear normal without raising my voice an octave. I'm 6'4 230 lbs, all my wrangler cargos fit nicely 38/32 but a bit short in the cuff, so i ordered 38/34.

T. Josephine, Poole says

I have been looking for the perfect cargo pants since the 1980's. When my last pair of bugle boys blew out in the mid 90's all there was to be had were slim legs and puffed out pockets. The closest i came were dickies cargo pants, loose fit, pleated. Today dickies can't make two legs in the same pants the same length. So, i tried carhart. These. Loose in the leg for movement, watch pocket, jean style metal button, flat large cargo pockets, every seam is triple stitched, and the material is soft. Belt loops can fit standard belts and dress belts. These can be an office or in the field pant. They are dress khakis. I will order more before these disappear too or they are on constant back order.

A. Pearce, Newham

I bought a pair of the khakis for my husband. They look really good on him and he says they fit very comfortably. He's only worn them once but he's done many squats in them to make sure they are durable. They also make his butt look good. Almost too good! lol. . I will try to give an update in a few months as to how they are holding up. My hubby isn't rough on clothes and he wears a uniform to work. He will pretty much only wear these to go grocery shopping during the week or when we go out on the weekends. So i am not sure how much help my review will be to someone who expects to wear these as an everyday pair of pants.

L. Paula, Hillingdon says

I took my measurements before ordering and discovered that pants from other makers are often off from their stated measurements. I measured the carhartt pants as soon as i unwrapped them from online store and found the measurements to be exact. The cotton material is smooth and comfortable to wear. The cargo pockets provide the room i need for essentials that isn't in ordinary pants. The relaxed fit means no pulling or squeezing when bending. I had to order close to my size because either carhartt doesn't make these pants in odd sizes, or online store doesn't carry all sizes.

I. Nielsen, Kent

Only worn these a few times, they feel very rugged. I love the triple stitching on the seams, the heavy weight of the fabric. . Only minor complaint is that he pockets have squared edges (corners) on the cover, they will be pointing up and rolling. Usually nicer if they are rounded off or cut into smaller angles. My back pockets are already starting to angle up and stick out. . Plenty of room to work in these, low seat, plenty of room in the legs. They feel a little long at the heel, if you are wearing shoes, but with boots a perfect fit. . Update: after a month the corners of the back pockets have fully begun to curl. Makes you look a little silly.

D. Cortney, Tennessee says

These are not as heavy as some of my older carhartt garments (which were american made), which is fine with me, because these weren't meant for working in thorn-infested brush. The pockets are handy, and the snap fasteners work fine and are easy to open, not like some snap fasteners that are too hard to open. I purchased a pair of carhartt khaki colored utility suspenders, which work fine with them. The light color does show dirt, but it will be cooler in the hot sun. I will probably purchase a different pair of even lighter in weight pants for hot summer use. A cotton polyester blend could be a lighter weight fabric than the 100% cotton that these carhartts use. But these are fine for garden work this spring.

U. Anonymous, British Columbia

What kind of measurements does carhartt use? i normally wear a 34/30, and after reading some of the comments here i went to a local store that sells carhartt and tried some pants on. I couldn't button my normal size so i grabbed a pair of 36 and they fit perfect. Unfortunately they didn't have the pair i wanted (cargos) so i came here to online store and ordered the 36's. Perfect fit, although they are a little long but not too long. The cell phone pocket is way too wide so the phone falls out of that pocket when i sit down, however the pants are very comfortable and the cargo pockets are great. Like a pair of jeans, the waist shrunk after washing but stretched back out after wearing a few minutes. I will probably buy another pair in a different color, but anybody have an idea as to what to use that phone pocket for?

O. June, Brighton and Hove says

These are just right for me. I am 5'9" with an averag build. Sometimes a 32l is too short and too long. These seem perfect to me. They bunch up just a little and don't turn into high water pants when i sit down. At the same time, they dont seem to get caught under my heel either. Some are made entirely too baggy and others are too slim cut. These seem just right for me. A true "relaxed" fit. They seems a little tight in the waist when i put them on, but they stretched throughout the day. I have just washed them for the first time and will update this review with any changes after being washed. Oh and the material is solid and strong like you would expect from carhartt, but still comfortable. 4. 5 stars!

X. Suzanne, City of Bristol says

I have been on a quest for the "perfect" cargo pants. I used to buy sigtac but those were discontinued. I've tried pants from blackhawk, 5. 11, duluth trading, and on and on and on. These carhartt pants have nearly everything that i want:. . Pros:. - snaps on the pockets. - large cargo pockets to carry a maxpedition first aid kit. - very high quality zipper. - no goofy ties around the bottom of the pant leg. . Things i'd like to see improved:. - adding a stretch waistband would be a nice added feature. - not a big deal but the ring to attach d-ring or caribeener would be a nice touch. - rip-stop fabric would also be a nice touch. . All in all, these are great fitting, comfortable, sturdy, and very functional work pants.

M. Elanor, Surrey

I have a couple of pairs of these pants i wear for work in an industrial maintenance capacity. Absolutely love them. They're sturdy as is typical of the carhartt name, have functionally large pockets (i'm typically carrying my personal phone, my work phone, my keys, my leatherman multi-tool, and wallet) that allow you to carry quite a bit, and still look good. . For the money, i think they're the best value out there. . Love the fact that they're not super heavy weight to be this sturdy, but not so extremely light that they fray immediately either. Very comfortable pants in just about any weather. One of the few brands of pants i've worn to work that i haven't ripped belt loops from wearing the plant radio on my belt too! strong seams on the hems, pockets, loops, etc.

W. Melissa, Bedfordshire says

I've always liked cargo pants to wear casually. Recently it's been very difficult to find a nice fitting and looking pair made with decent material. Levi's, eddie bauer, peirre cardin and all others have gone with the skinny leg, ball busting look. Wth! carhartt's are usually very heavy material, not these, they're cool, comfortable and look and fit great!

H. Cunningham, Saskatchewan

Can't give 5 star yet - haven't had long enough, but pants construction and materials seem to be fine. . I like the "snap" closures on the side pockets. I mainly dislike velcro on other cargo pants. . I also like the small 2nd pocket on the right cargo pocket. So far it holds pens etc. , but haven't given it a serious test yet. I'm afraid to put my cell phone in it. . I'm going to order another pair of carhartt cargo pants today.

E. Terry, Rutland says

These are the best cargo pants i think i've ever owned, and i've tried many brands. The fit was perfect, carhartt uses the same standard sizing as levis or dockers, so if you've ever owned a pair of pants from them, you know how these will fit. The impressive things about these pants: the material is the best quality stitched expertly without little threads hanging off like you'll find on cheaper brands. They're soft and extremely comfortable. The cargo pockets are huge. They have snap fasteners instead of that crappy velcro which gives them a neater, more business like appearance and you can throw them in with your other laundry without the damage velcro can do to clothes when you put it in the dryer. Everywhere you look on these pants they are quality. I was a little hesitant about spending $40 for a pair of pants when other brands are cheaper. After spending the money though, it was worth it. I expect these pants to last longer than the cheaper ones i have. The picture on online store of these pants doesn't do them justice, they are relaxed fit, but the quality of the fabric and quality of construction come through and i'd say they're more than adequate for a business casual workplace.

. Lawrence, New Hampshire

Solid go to pants if you like cargos. Well put together, will last, yet are comfortable. If i had to have just one pair of pants, these would be it, even over jeans. Light tan look good, have blue as well as several shorts of the same style/ material. Tan is best overall.

P. Beale, Warrington says

I initially ordered a 38x34 for my husband in the carhartt men's rugged cargo pant, but discovered the waist was too small. After returning the former, i purchased a size 40x34 and it fit perfectly these are his go-to pants that he can use for work as a pre-school special ed teacher and hiking the trails around the high desert of so. Ca. The cargos are well made with 100% cotton and have held up well after several washings. They do require a bit of pressing, but that is just a minor inconvenience. This is my first experience with purchasing a carhartt product, but it won't be my last.

Y. Weber, West Virginia

Where the belt loops are is the only reason for 4 stars. They have 2 closer to the front on each side then only one in the center of the back. Being evenly spaced would solve this problem. Oh yeah. That makes it kind of hard to put on a little side pouch for service calls. The ones where you just loop around the belt. Where the second loop is makes you have to reach further back to get it on.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

Q. Clara, Indiana says

I really like this pair of work, i did purposely order a size larger than i needed, just to gauge sizes. Hard to do that when you cant try the pair on, but the pants are great, except due to work enviornment variables, abrasion has worn threads slighly above the front of the cargo pockets leaving an opening on either side, as well, the left knee below the pocket with more abrasions and a large whole i ended up stitching back up, because i still like the pair. Only gripe i have is that those holes wore in within a few months, but i'll stitch those up until i can get another pair and stitch a layer of the old pair over the abrasion points. . Otherwise, quite happy with overall quality, comfort, pocket size, and length. Perfect type of work pants for a package handler who's always on the move.

A. Brendon, New Mexico

These pants are not the carhartts that you may be used to. These are made in china and made very cheaply. Mine are showing wear at every pocket seem and i have probably only warn these things ten times. Please check your label when these arrive and ensure that they are actually made in america as carhartt claims. . Carhartt was very good and very prompt about sending me a replacement pair of, you guessed it, more chinese made garbage. I checked the labels on all 7 pair of my various carhartts and not a single pair was made in america. . I am afraid the only thing american about carhartts is that they have a big headquarters building in dearborn. Everything else is foriegn made junk. Be smart, by wranglers.

. Sheila, Stoke-on-Trent says

After a month of light wear the pants had a tear start where the large leg cargo pocket meets the pant leg. This is not an uncommon issue with cargo pants, but i was shocked that a brand like carhartt would have the issue so quickly. Waste of money.

N. Dorothy, Bury

These were listed as 40x32. Sizing on this was way small in the waist. The length was ok. But considering i could not even get them buttoned, i had to return them. (the normal pants i wear are waist 38 or 40. ) this is the first time i have tried carhartt pants. I did like the style, so i may try a larger waist soon.

M. Peggy, Kentucky says

Too long, but that's a matter of product availability, not correct sizes. Online store will note that i selected "fits as expected" when i began writing this review. See, i need cargo pants for work. Durable ones. Well, what i actually need is khaki or tan pants, but i prefer the cargo style to hold my various implements (phone, wallet, store-issued box cutter) in assorted pockets instead of trying to dig through a pile of stuff in one pocket for whatever i need for a given task. And i need durable ones because i've gone through two pairs of pants already that have holes in the pockets just from the corner of my phone case poking into it. A soft case, at that. Not even a hole on the inside where the phone is actually kept, but on the outside where it's visible for customers and fellow employees to see (i wear a long shirt that i don't tuck in, but it isn't that long). . The problem is finding a pair that fits. I can't seem to find any of these locally, so trying them on to make sure they fit before buying is not an option. So i basically have to buy a pair and hope for the best. My waistline tends to fluctuate according to my success (or lack thereof) losing weight-right now 36 is on the snug side and i'm trying to lose enough to consistently wear 34-but the very smallest inseam size available is too long! i have to hem these up in order to avoid catching the bottoms on my shoes; i really need a 29 inseam at the biggest, and 28 (which i've never seen anywhere, at least not combined with the necessary waist) would be even better.

W. Alberta, New Brunswick

I have to change my review. I loved these and bought multiple pairs. All of them developed holes on both sides in the exact same place where the top of the side pocket joins the pants in the corner. This is without much time owning them and not much use. Dont buy!

Y. Susana, New Jersey says

My husband wears the same size in all his pant. I check all of them before buying this pair. It was about 3-4" too small in the waist so i returned them. Online store makes returns easy. So buy at least one size bigger in the waist.

. Hadley, Newcastle upon Tyne

They run very small in waist and very long in length. Also they are not rugged feeling at all like my other carhartt pants that are supposed to be the same. They feel like casual pants instead of rugged work pants. Maybe they are counterfeit? have three other pairs of the same pants and they are much heavier duty, beware

G. Susan, Arizona says

Do not buy. Color faded from what they call "gravel" (which should be a dark grey) to after about 20 washes to this weird lavender grey. It's weird they look purple. . Sizes seemed smaller than carhart normally makes them. And they shrunk horribly in the wash/dryer compared to my other carhartts. . After about 4-5 months of use they started ripping in the crotch and at the corners of the cargo pockets. . They feel rugged, so i was shocked when they started to dissinigrate.

. Megan, Southampton

I got wranglers, i should have returned them because you can get those at walmart for half the price. Pants are still nice, came in handy holding tools while working in an attic. More disappointed than otherwise still. Carhartt is a working man's brand, not something you can sub out with cheap stuff and have someone be truely happy.

D. Anonymous, Rhode Island says

I love these pants but the sizing is crazy off. The 34 relaxed waist is just a normal 34 but it's "low cut" or something because it is too small. The inseam was supposed to be 30 but is more like 31 or even 32 - kind of like "relaxed" meant extra length but not cut for short guys who do sports. . So, returning. The fabric is tough as nails and the design is awesome - if they only fit.

. Pamela, Northamptonshire

These pants are mostly good, but they run very small. I am a size 42, can fit in some 40's, and i purchased these in a 44 and they are still a bit snug. So make sure you get at least one size higher than normal and probably two if you like them loose on the waist. The pockets are okay, not as large a capacity as i would like, but they aren't nearly as bad as some people described them, i use them daily with little issues there.

B. Candy, Brent says

Think carhartt changed supplier for these . I deliberately ordered relaxed fit and one size larger than i currently wear for the extra room for summer heat , what i got was at least a size under couldn't even button them. Fit wise they are off also the picture shows a normal waist line riding height, these thing were low slung hip huggers i doubt the zipper was 3 inches long. Returned them for a refund , it's got to a store and try them on time from now on. . Aside from the lousy fit they looked to be good pants.

K. McCarthy, Westminster

" shocked" the thickness of the fabric is not what i expected ! it's not the thickness of the camouflage one ! i would never buy them again! i'm expecting that same quality in all that brand unless expressly stated willing to pay the quality price and receive the quality

P. Rhonda, Rochdale says

I ordered the first pair with no problem i tried ordering two more pair just a few days ago if you don't have the item don't list it for sale. I would like to know how i can remove a sellers from my few. So i don't make the same mistake in the future

J. Walsh, Florida

Well, they didn't last quite a year, but i abuse everything i own, from laptops to cameras, bicycles and everything else. The seat went first, but i think my expanding-girth had something to do with that. From then on, decline was certain, rapid and disastrous. Not exhibiting the durability of say, carhartt bib-overalls, these pants nevertheless were wonderful with all the pockets i've grown accustomed to and love. Think i'll pass on another 'new' pair, though, and scour the thrifts: i didn't get the longevity i've come to expect from carhartt.

V. Zelda, Devon says

I liked these pants quite a bit. I wore them seven or eight times at work and they were fine. The next time i wore them i spent a couple of hours working on my knees on a concrete floor; when i went back to pipe fitting, and the right knee went out. This was a smooth concrete floor, not a rough surface. The pants fit well and otherwise they seemed durable enough. I sure expected more out of carhartt's in any case.

I. Medina, Southend-on-Sea

Wore the pants for a month and the knee busted out. We aare past the return time with online store, so i will try to get a replacement through carhartt. Fyi, these pants are not as well made as other carhartt products. They are considerably thinner material and no where near as durable.

. Brenda, Oxfordshire says

Decent pants, good fit - for awhile. My thighs chafe, so i tend to wear out the groin in pants, so i went with carhartt due to their reputed durability. First split came about six months into it, and i don't over-wash/dry my clothes. I tried an iron-on patch, which worked fine for a few weeks, until the rest of the seam split from regular motions.

S. Dorine, Lorraine

I bought 2 pair of these pants in 2015 and have loved them they fit well and were loose enough to be comfortable without being baggy . They were made out of a fairly heavy duty canvas cotton material that has lasted 2 yrs and worn well. I decided to buy a couple more pair in 2017 and was extremely disappointed to find that carhartt has changed not only the cut of these pants but the material also. They are now more fitted and not as relaxed as before they feel like a straight leg pant not relaxed and the cut is more tapered and less of a boot cut. The material is now more of a lighter soft cotton not the heavy duty canvas cotton that it had been before. The pants feel like something you would get at old navy or the gap not from carhartt. Really disappointed in the changes that why i am giving the one star i would give 5 stars to the pair i bought in 2015.

T. Wanda, New Hampshire says

The tabs around the tops of the pockets wear through the pants and leave holes in the first month of use. I have three pair and they are all junk cheap canvas not carhartt quality. . After three pairs and about 6 months of ownership on them i like the nice light fabric and the room in them, but the stitching still shredded all three pairs at the cargo pocket tops

Z. Kristen, Delaware

I am 6'6" and 195 lbs. And usually have a lot of trouble finding pants - a lot of my height is in my legs and many pants, even with tall sizes, don't have a long enough rise to be comfortable. I had high hopes for these carhartt cargo pants because carhartt double-front utility work pant fit perfectly. I really like them and wear them a lot. However, i wanted to try cargo pants because cargo pockets work better for wallets, mobile phones, tape measures, etc. Than a "traditional" pocket. Unfortunately, these pants don't fit even remotely like the utility work pants and to call them a "relaxed fit" is pretty humorous. They offer a much more tight and restrictive fit in all aspects (even length) and it would be very uncomfortable to spend a day working in them. That's disappointing. . (as a final note, i thought carhartt, as one of the quality manufacturers, would have a consistent sizing across their product line, but that might be asking a little much in this day of outsourcing. )

F. Glenda, Pennsylvania says

These pants are not even close to being sized correctly. I normally wear a 34, but like to have the extra waist room of a 36. I was barely able to get them buttoned, and i noticed from other reviews that the sizing is an issue. You had better order them two sizes too big if you want them to fit.

E. Eva, North Dakota

These pants fit small in the waist! don't be mistaken by other reviews! i recently bought a pair of jeans and the 36 waist fit perfectly, so i ordered these pants with the same size (36, 32) and when they arrived, the waist is snug. I ordered a 38, 32 to see the difference. The 38 waist is huge and the pant legs and crotch are too large so i had to take them to the tailor. I didn't want to just return them because they are really good quality pants. Therefore, i recommend getting a size larger and just get them tailored. The material isn't thick so they can be worn in warm weather.

U. Angelica, Lewisham says

The problem with ordering clothing online is that it's a total gamble on knowing if the item is going to fit you. I usually still take that chance, and did so with these. I ordered a size up based on everyone's online store reviews that said carhartt is known for being a size too small. I wear a true 35 waist and ordered the 36. Once i got these in the mail and tried them on, they were still too tight, even if i needed to tuck in my t-shirt. So as annoyed as i could be, i proceeded with online store's return policy and actually made out well there. Based on the seller's return policy, i was refunded my money based on a promise to return the pants within 30 days. This was a really nice option since i needed pants right away and had the money immediately to purchase a larger size. So knowing that the quality was still there with carhartt's pants, i ordered a size 38 waist (since there's no such thing as a 37), which is unimaginable that i'd ever order 3 sizes larger than my normal. Much to my dismay, they were way too big. I ended up keeping them to use for winter and thicker layers instead of going through the return hassle again. There's just no need for this. In my eyes, this is what happens when clothing is made in a different country (in this instance, china). Chinese sizes are notoriously made small because they are smaller people. So i wonder if something is going on there. I even checked the tag on both pairs of pants just in case they sent the wrong size. Nope. I also noticed that the army green color had already faded from 1 wash. Wow. Maybe i should take back my statement about quality and say that they remain durable. For the price and quality, i would recommend going with the wrangler work pants. I've owned 2 pairs of those and they're just as good if not better than carhartt's. I believe they're called riggs or something close to that.

. Paula, Coventry

I ordered 3 of these pants they are way too small. I ordered a 38 waist and the tag says 38 and they are no more then a 34. I had to give then to my son in law who does wear a 34 and the pants are ripping at the corners of the cargo pockets. I honesty feel that they are a knock off and made in a 3rd world country and i was scammed. Carhartt is a quality pant and these are not to the standard that i know of.

H. Jacqueline, Mississippi says

Truth be told, i was hoping for a more relaxed fit. For what it's worth, i think the waist size is very accurate (i. E. Exactly 36 inches), but so many other brands add an extra bit of "play", so i wasn't expecting such a snug fit. But i cannot fault carhartt for that, i wish more clothing was accurately sized. At least i'll know for next time, and hopefully if you're planning to buy some of these nice looking khakis, you'll see my review and order the correct size. . Updated 12-24-2015: after only 2 years, these pants have kicked the bucket. If you think 2 years is a good lifespan for utility-type pants, then you'll be happy. For me, 2 years is unacceptable. I wore these pants for about 3 - 4 months of the year, about 2 - 3 times a week, tops. The final straw, when i decided it was time to let them go, was when the zipper broke entirely, leaving me to scuffle around for the remainder of the day desperately trying to avoid flashing my jiggly bits at co-workers.

O. Anderson, Waltham Forest

I really like another type of carhartt cargo pants- the b260 line. They however have been discontinued and when i contacted carhartt they referred me to this style. It is not the same. The material of these is much thicker, which could be good for some people. It will protect your legs more when moving around in the woods, etc. But it will also wrinkle like crazy and not look good, even with ironing. The b260s had velcro on the pockets, these have snaps. They snap securely, very securely so this could be a plus for some, but it makes getting my wallet or phone out of a pocket more tedious. If you leave them unsnapped they make a lot of noise from the snaps hitting each other. The cloth also make much more noise than the discontinued b260s so not great for hunting. . I was looking for pants to use for work. I'm a meat cutter so they have to look professional and be very durable but still comfortable with plenty of pockets. The older b260s were fine for that. These are too stiff, hold wrinkles, and have pockets that aren't as convenient. So now i am looking for a new brand of pants. Thanks oba. Err. Carhartt. . However they do fit fine, and are very sturdy, so if you are working as some place not so customer oriented (meaning they are not trying to make big ugly meat cutters look socially acceptable), these might be fine for you.

R. Wilson, Michigan says

I own many pieces of carhartt clothing worn for work as a machinist. All of which are extremely durable and long lasting. Unlike these pants, which i only wear casually a few times a week, are already developing holes near the cargo pockets. I've only had them for 3 months. Extremely disappointing. A waste of money.

X. Nancy, Isle of Wight

First of all, these pants seem to be well made and long-lasting, contrary to some of the other 1-star reviews i see here. The cautionary tale i offer relates to a very specific feature of these pants: the pocket. What kind of * &$ designs a pocket that runs half way down your thigh? if you buy these pants, get ready to lose coins, pens, paper money, and so on, every time you sit down, especially in a car. I lost an extremely valuable piece of paper - forever - in a taxi one day, and my hotel key the following day. If this feature sounds like it'll drive you as crazy as it did me, keep looking for a pair of pants designed with pocket openings parallel to the waistline, not running diagonally down to the seam.

C. Helen, West Virginia says

My order specifically said the size of the pant was 32-34. When my brother put them on they were rather long, and on the label inside the pant said 32-36. He desperately needed these pants and will wear them rolled up, but i just wanted you to know that i am very disappointed in this. My order, the package label all said they were 32-34.
